Baby naming help - for Sims

I have another new baby to name on the Sims (Sims 2 - the only acceptable form of sims!) and since people on here have been very helpful before (alien twins, musical baby name) I thought I'd ask again.

This baby hasn't been born yet, so I don't know if they're a boy or a girl.

Surname is Land.

Parents are called Salvatore (Sal for short) and Lacy.

Older siblings are Scottie (F) & Lachlan (M) - twins, and Erin (F).

No particularly naming theme for this family, so I'm not quite sure where to start. Maybe another E name to go with Erin, since the twins have the same starting letters as their parents? Or a different letter entirely so no siblings have the same letter?

Oh God I miss The sins. And agree, Sim2 is the only one worth playing.

Lars or Phoebe

I'm not sure about Lars. For some reason it just sounds like it's not a name to me (obviously I know it is, but it just doesn't sound very name-like).

I have a Phoebe elsewhere in the neighbourhood, and I'm trying to avoid duplicate names where possible (which I know would be totally unrealistic in real life, but helps me not get muddled up!).

I'm thinking maybe something Gaelic, as the sibling names are sort-of Gaelic.

Funnily enough, the original Land family all have pun names (Homer, Beulah, Mary, Dixie, Scot, River and Delta), but I haven't carried this on with the next generation because there's so many of them (13 with the surname Land).

The baby has just been born, and it's a girl. I'm leaning toward Finlay, then she could be Finn for short which would make her Finn Land.

Frieda or Soren maybe- something a bit Scandi. Echo is lovely for either sex and I love Larkin. What about something vintage Hollywood? Loretta or Rita? Claude or Gable for a boy?

AosSi · 28/10/2021 15:40

Irene. Then you have Ire for short, which could be Ireland...

I loved Sims2, naming is so fun.

I’m sitting here wondering what to do with myself as I just can’t sleep (40wks pregnant). Now you’ve made me fancy switching on the computer and playing the Sims for a while 🤣. Have to confess to playing Sims 4 though, much closer to 2 than 3 was. I didn’t enjoy 3 at all, but loved 2.

Could call her Lap.

I'm delighted to hear I'm not the only one for whom Sims 2 is the only and best.

I had to stop playing it though because it was deleted from my Origin account - I think they don't support it any more. Gutted. Now I'm playing Sims 4 and learning to find its charm.

JazzTheDog · 06/11/2021 14:23

A (as in the letter) lay

JazzTheDog · 06/11/2021 14:24

Or Hayley without the H is maybe easier!

Thanks for all the suggestions - I named her Finlay in the end, and her older siblings are already calling her Finn for short.

I've had another sim baby born since then who's called Summer Thyme (that one was easy!)

The next one I could do with some help with is the latest baby in a poly family - the other children are Lexi (short for Alexandria - she's the dad's from a previous relationship and he had no input in naming her), twins Nova and Rae (full names Nova Samantha and Gwendolyn Rae), and Jett (middle name Davy after his dad). The parents are Davy, Dotty and Evangeline. Evangeline has a thing about names not being shortened because when she was adopted as a four-year-old her name was the only thing that was really hers. Woe betide you if you try and shorten her name or call her any kind of term of endearment. The only person who's allowed to shorten her name is Lexi, because she couldn't say "Evangeline" when they first met, so she calls her "Evi."

So, new baby needs an unshortenable name which goes with Lexi, Nova, Rae and Jett.
