Hiya

We found out we were having a girl after being convinced she was a boy! My partner and I had agreed on boys names but can't get to the same place with girls names and would appreciate your opinions and any suggestions we may like. I would like names that aren't too common but aren't too crazy!

So far we have:

Ottilie Anaïs
Dulcie (Cici) Anaïs
Robyn Anaïs
Frankie Anaïs

Thank you

The first two are really try hard, sorry.

Frankie is better for a boy

Robyn is lovely though.

Popsiclestry · 26/10/2021 08:19

If you like Dulcie What about Celia? Or Cecile?

BeKindBeYou · 26/10/2021 08:22

Robyn Anaïs :) beautiful

JudgementalCactus · 26/10/2021 08:24

I like Ottillie/Ottilia, but combining it with Anais just feels a little too pretentious and try hard as a PP put it.

Maybe something less exotic as a middle name? Ottilia May?

I like Frankie too because I'm fond of unisex names for girls.

Robyn Anais... they just don't go together very well.

Dulcie to me sounds like one of stripper stage names. Sorry...

RavenclawsRoar · 26/10/2021 08:35

I really like Ottilie Anaïs - I think it's lovely! I love the name Anaïs generally, so would vote for it as a first name too. I like Robyn too.

Camandmitch · 26/10/2021 09:02

I like Dulcie but I don't see why it needs shortening as it's only two syllables.

raintropics · 26/10/2021 09:43

Frankie

daisypond · 26/10/2021 09:51

Ottilie Anaïs - really dislike Ottilie. It’s ugly is sound and looks.
Dulcie (Cici) Anaïs - Not keen. It’s a bit bland and mousy.
Robyn Anaïs - really dislike Robyn. It’s not classy. You could use Roberta and Robin for short.
Frankie Anaïs -Frankie isn’t a name. Call her Frances or Francesca and use Frankie for short if you must.
Anaïs is nice. I’d use that as a first name, but it’s one of those names that are always mispronounced, sometimes even by the parents.

toastofthetown · 26/10/2021 10:02

I'm assuming that Anaïs is a significant name for you, so will ignore how all the names sound with it.
Ottilie Anaïs - Ottilie is way too trendy for me (heading toward top 100 if that bothers you), and I'm not a huge fan of the sound of the name. It's insipid and clunky at the same time
Dulcie (Cici) Anaïs - Ducie is just saccharine. Sounds feeble
Robyn Anaïs - I prefer the Robin spelling, and I also prefer it for a boy but it's my favourite on your list
Frankie Anaïs - don't like Frankie at all.

Throwing my hat in the ring to say that I've always liked the name Dulcie. Have no idea why you would need to change it to Cici though as it doesn't obviously derive from it. (And Cici is a bit of a babyish name to slap on a kid IMO.)

But Dulcie literally means sweet. It's such an infantilising and stripper-like name.
WeasilyPleased · 26/10/2021 22:39

Robyn is the best.

DramaAlpaca · 26/10/2021 22:49

Ottilie is OK.

I don't like the other three, sorry.

hopingforabrighterfuture2021 · 26/10/2021 23:32

All good names OP!

Ottilie is very ‘now’ but a great name and my favourite of your list, I love Frankie for a girl but really only as a nickname for Frances or Francesca.

wishing3 · 26/10/2021 23:35

Francesca Anaïs
