not keen, but it's a normal enough name that I wouldn't think twice about it when not specifically asked my opinion.

BubbleCoffee · 25/10/2021 20:15

I really like Stephanie and think it's due a comeback. It would be a refreshing change. I'd use Steph as nickname. Not keen on Stevie.

campion · 25/10/2021 20:21

Not Stevie

CampagVelocet · 25/10/2021 20:21

I think nicknames are so much nicer when they develop organically, rather than being predetermined.

toastofthetown · 25/10/2021 20:59

Pretty much every Stephanie I know is Steph. Stephanie is an unremarkable name. I don't like Stevie.

daisypond · 25/10/2021 21:14

I quite like it and quite like Stevie too.

GoodnightGrandma · 25/10/2021 21:15

I love Stevie ! Prefer it to Stephanie.

Tibtab · 25/10/2021 21:18

I think most Stephanies will have their name shortened to Steph by other people

IbizaToTheNorfolkBroads · 25/10/2021 21:18

I love Stevie as a pet form of Stephanie!
DH wasn’t keen, despite having suggested Thomasin/Tom and Jaqueline/Jack.

Synchrony · 25/10/2021 22:33

I love it.

MooseBreath · 25/10/2021 22:44

Stephanie isn't my cup of tea, but it's nice enough. Sure beats the the current trend of super feminine Daisy/Poppy/Lily. Stevie is a great nickname.

Kitkat151 · 25/10/2021 23:07

Not Stevie...just don’t like it at all....Steph is ok

Branleuse · 25/10/2021 23:26

Stevie is a fab name. Stevie Nicks

Kite22 · 25/10/2021 23:37

Stephanie is nice enough.
Ticks all my boxes, including being well known enough that people won't say "What?" when you giv your name, but used fairly rarely so there won't be lots of people with your name in everything you every go to. Easy to spell and to read off a list
I don't think 'Stevie' works, but you can call her what you want in your own home., although 'Steph' is what everyone else will call her.

IamnotwhouthinkIam · 26/10/2021 01:50

Lovely - the full Stephanie is retro pretty (reminds me of names like Angela and Valerie), while nickname Stevie is funky/cool (Stevie Nicks and all). They are very different styles of name to me, so she can pick which she prefers when older, which is nice.

TempsPerdu · 26/10/2021 22:51

Quite liking Stephanie in a ’70s revival kind of way. Much better than some of the twee, insipid names that are currently on trend - makes me think rock chick. And Stevie is a much nicer, and cooler, nickname than Steph IMO.

Cbeebiesrehab · 26/10/2021 23:11

Like Stevie but couldn’t use Stephanie as I really dislike Steph

Hobbesmanc · 28/10/2021 15:47

Hmmm Stephanie, Danielle, Michaela, Georgina. All those perky preppy eighties names. Not sure they are ready to return just yet

Classica · 28/10/2021 18:39

I love Stevie as a nn for Stephanie. Works well for the amazing Stevie Nicks!

At least it's not another Sophia or Arabella.

MeredithGreyishblue · 28/10/2021 18:44

I like Stevie. There was a Stevie in some horsey books I read as a kid and she was cool. Plus Nicks!

But it's hard to direct a nickname.
