Is this the right name for our baby girl?

We have decided on a baby name! Finally!

Delilah Louise

I know it might sound heavy on the l's but we wanted the middle name to still sound pretty whilst having a special meaning. My middle name is Louise, and my mother in laws name is also Louise so we thought it would be nice for baby to have her grandmothers name as her middle name, as well as it having a connection to me too. My mothers name doesn't sound nice with it hence why we didn't want to pick it. I think the two go well together

Do you think it sounds okay?

It’s lovely OP, congratulations!

TurnUpTurnip · 25/10/2021 00:01

Sounds fine to me

Aorh · 25/10/2021 02:16

Theoretically, I’d agree on the Ls, but actually, it sounds totally fine. I’d go with it!

Aquamarine1029 · 25/10/2021 02:22

I think it's lovely, op. I don't think the L's are an issue at all, they flow nicely, and you rarely say someone's full name anyway.

Congratulations! Gorgeous name!

BasiliskStare · 25/10/2021 02:24

I think t is lovely to have a nod to family for middle names - one of eldest DS's middle names was his great grandad's. I think both names lovely & great you have decided what you like but mostly ( ( I have found ) middle names don't get used much apart from on forms so I would not worry an ounce about the "L" s

Lovely & congratulations Flowers

It’s absolutely lovely! So sweet to use mil and your middle name. Even though it’s the tiniest bit ‘L’ heavy, it won’t be noticeable because she won’t be called Delilah Louise day to day, she will be Delilah last name or just Delilah - unless she’s been cheeky!

LoveGrooveDanceParty · 25/10/2021 02:38

It’s a really nice name and the two go well together. Congratulations!

Is your Mum going to be OK you honouring your MIL in the name, but not her?

BeKindBeYou · 25/10/2021 10:18

Sounds lovely!! Perfect.

SummaLuvin · 25/10/2021 11:11

Sounds fine to me.

But just in case you hadn't considered it (I'm sure you have) there is a Tom Jones song Delilah. Thought I would mention if it's something that would effect your choice and you weren't aware. Definitely think strongly on it if you live in and around Stoke.

Elisemum · 25/10/2021 12:34

Sounds very nice together, flows easy, go for it:)

foodanfagsjokiing · 25/10/2021 12:36

Beautiful and congratulations. 💐

DramaAlpaca · 25/10/2021 17:37

If you both love it, it's the right name.

Jerrysgonnabeacableboy · 26/10/2021 00:32

Love it.

Fairybobbin · 26/10/2021 04:30

Really nice

Lightswitch123 · 26/10/2021 04:32

Lovely

tiggerwhocamefortea · 26/10/2021 05:46

I like it however I personally wouldn't choose a name which honoured one parent over another ie his mum and not your mum too - I think I'd be a bit upset if I was her?

WeDidntMeanToGoToSea · 26/10/2021 05:59

Not keen on Delilah, but Louise is lovely and has undeservedly fallen out of favour (overuse in previous generations, but it's still an absolute classic) - if it were me I would lead the revival and have it as a first name.

trumpisagit · 26/10/2021 05:59

We gave child 1 PIL first name as middle name and child 2 my Dad's first name as middle name. It seemed fair, and tbh I don't think middle names matter at all.
My children barely know what theirs are and they wouldn't know their friends' middle names.
