Second girl naming crisis!

Hi everyone,

Pregnant with DC2 and at this rate, if she’s a girl, she will be nameless 😫. DC1 is called Lilah, and literally the only other name we considered for her was Lyra. I still love Lyra but we can’t have two children called Lilah and Lyra can we?! It’s corny and I can imagine will evolve into a confusing nightmare.

We want a name that she won’t spend the rest of her life correcting, but also is relatively rare or unique.

We have a list of potentials but I still can’t see myself naming my own child any of these-

Frances (Frankie)
Caitlin (Cait)
Sappho (?)
Leonora (Leo)
Cassia (Cassie / Cass)

Anyone got any opinions on these / suggestions? If I’m honest I don’t love any of them! 😩

Thanks! Xx

I feel like I’m leaning towards Cassia (Pronouced Cass-ee-ah here in the UK) and Frances! Thanks for all these opinions!

I’m in love with Cassia (Cassie / Cass)! I’ve just had a baby girl & I kind of wish I had considered this now lol. Simply beautiful & gives the opportunity for cute nicknames!!

ODFOgrinch · 21/10/2021 17:57

I'd avoid another name ending with an A sound.
Names with a similar vibe to Lilah without an a or ah at the end:
Sophie
Katherine (Katie or Kitty)
Hope
Joy
Rae
Penelope
Ruby

Rose?

ThirdElephant · 21/10/2021 18:23

Vivian?

DotDotDotDotDot · 21/10/2021 19:14

I’m glad you’re leaning towards Cassia (Cassie/Cass), it’s a gorgeous name. I think nature type names are lovely with Lilah. Maybe Iris, Violet or Elowen?

WildCherryBlossom · 21/10/2021 19:39

Cassia Frances is lovely!

SE13Mummy · 21/10/2021 19:59

Lilah is an Arabic and Hebrew name so maybe finding another with a similar origin might be something to consider?

I like Sadie, Nancy, Nina or Zara.

Names such as Juno, Hero, Nova, Cleo, Scout and Tess also go well with Lilah.

My daughter is a Brontë - she loves her name - 22 years on, so do I

MrsSkylerWhite · 21/10/2021 20:02

Lulu?

Rainbowqueeen · 21/10/2021 20:04

I love Cassia.

Would you call her Cassie?
Cassidy is an alternative.

Also came in to suggest Anais and Indigo as names you might like

WildCherryBlossom · 21/10/2021 20:06

What about Anouk or Anouki?

myheartskippedabeat · 21/10/2021 20:06

@Milkteefs

Not Sappho!!!!
Yes that's not even a proper name
fakeit2makeit · 21/10/2021 20:13

@WildCherryBlossom

Cassia Frances is lovely!
I love this! But do you think it sounds a bit la-de-dah? Like someone you’d immediately assume went to a private school? We’re very much an average family so don’t want to be giving off those kinds of vibes!

Cora
Luna at a push
Ada
Una
Mabel
Elsie
Fleur my all time favourite
Rosalie
Audrey
Lois

Oh OP Cassia Frances is lovely. It's fresh and original but really not La-de-dah or pretentious. It works well with Lilah (I strongly disagree with a couple of pp saying you shouldn't have two "a" endings - nearly all women in Latin countries have names ending in a) If seems like it makes you happy too. Put it why

WildCherryBlossom · 21/10/2021 20:56

Sorry posted accidentally. Wanted to finish with: put it to one side and ponder it until you have given birth and the see if feels right when you meet her.

PurplePizzaCake · 21/10/2021 21:30

I agree that Cassia Frances is a lovely name. What is Lilah's middle name (if she has one?)

ThirdElephant · 21/10/2021 21:33

Not lah-dee-dah, but a lot of s sounds.

Audreyhelp · 21/10/2021 21:38

Love Cassie and frankie

Alexandra. I do really love Cassia Frances. But I agree with some of the other posters that Lilah and Cassia together sounds a bit of a mouthful. Having said that I think that we should just consider each name in isolation - no point compromising on a name just because of how it sounds in a list with siblings. Lilah and Lyra is too far though 🤣

@WildCherryBlossom thanks! You’re helping us to make a decision 😊

@Rainbowqueeen I really love Cassidy but we have a last name that ends in an “ee” sound so y / ie ending names are out unless it’s a nickname. Also a bit American?

OP posts:
fakeit2makeit · 21/10/2021 21:58

@myheartskippedabeat I think we’ve decided against it but it’s a proper name. I know a Sappho and it’s the name of a Greek poet.
