Girls names to go with surname Hesford

Hi everyone 👋

First post on here, and first baby. Hopefully I've not broken any rules by posting babies future surname!

We are expecting our first baby girl in January next year and are struggling for a name for her.

We live in Yorkshire so have the accent to think about when choosing a name, and dont want anything too unique. I know Grace is common but we love it for a middle name. We both have common first names ourselves and it has never bothered us.

We originally liked Amelia Grace Hesford for a long time, but have had people turn their nose up at that recently. What are people's thoughts?

Another option was Ellie Grace Hesford, but I wasn't keen on the alliterative sound of Ellie Hesford (as we don't enunciate the H in Hesford).

Any thoughts or suggestions would be much appreciated!

Thank you so much! 💕

Hollie Hesford came to mind.

Emily Grace Hesford
Bella Grace Hesford
Grace Amelia Hesford

The first name I thought was Grace but I see you’re having that as a middle name. I do not love Ellie…
Other alternatives:
Millie
Lucy
Charlotte
Isabel
Rosie

I’d probably go with Grace though and have Amelia as a middle name

I'd avoid anything ending in an -es or s sound
e.g Grace as it will sound like Gray Cesford

A name ending in a will give you Amelia Resford

etc

Something ending in Ie or y would be fine

I like a three-syllable name, so DaDaDa DeeDee. Melanie Hesford? Works well as a Mel Hesford too.

thewhatsit · 14/10/2021 09:39

My first thought was Charlotte.

I think a fairly long name suits, both boy and girl. Either a three syllable name for a long two one.

Dominic
Jonathan
Nicolas
Joshua

Something like Harry Hesford would be no good.

Charlotte
Olivia
Josephine
Helena

I think your name suggestions are names that have been popular for quite a long time, so will start to go out of fashion before long

Many Ellies and Amelias will have the middle name Grace, so they are a bit like the Sarah Jane and Emma Louise names of their generation.

How about Melissa Grace

Maximum71 · 14/10/2021 10:07

My tip would be to keep the name secret until the day of the birth. Then you name her what you want and everyone will love it because it's your babies name. This is how it really works.
Ava
Sophie
Hannah
Rose
Evelyn
Claudia

There are millions of Amelia/Grace/Ellies around that are at secondary school age, so there are on there way out, hence the not such positive response.

If you pronounce your surname 'esford then I'd look for a name ending in a consonant, which having looked at the top 100 names is non of them! They all seem to end on e or a sounds.

Marigold?
