Can't decide between these three, so I'm asking on here.

OP posts:

William purely because Finn/Finley seems to be the most popular boys name where we live. I don't think I have come across any little Henry's or Williams in my area.

William for me. Variety of different style nn's if he wants, plus some great namesakes (the "Conqueror", Wallace, Wilberforce, Pitt, Gladstone, Shakespeare, Wordsworth, Blake, Morris...) classic and perennially popular/timeless but not quite as currently overused as the similarly classic Henry/Harry. Finn is fairly trendy, I'm not sure it will age as well as Henry and William.

Henry

Not Finn

Henry.

BarryTheChopper · 14/10/2021 19:41

Henry
William
Finn

Finn just sounds a bit wet to me.

Indoctro · 14/10/2021 20:24

William definitely

Finn is extremely common nowadays

William will never go out of fashion it's a lovely traditional name

PricklesTheHedgehog · 14/10/2021 20:32

Finn

alexdgr8 · 14/10/2021 20:35

not finn. it's not a proper first name.
the others are fine.
but because prince william is more popular than silly prince harry now, perhaps that has the edge over henry.

Classica · 14/10/2021 20:39

Finn isn't a proper name?

English people need to get out more.

What is a 'proper' first name?

Henry

Flowiththego · 14/10/2021 21:18

William. I liked Finn once but there are loads and I think it will date. William is timeless.

CathyorClaire · 14/10/2021 21:24

William.

Would have used it for ds1 had BIL not beaten us to it Angry
Managed to slip it in for ds2 but only as a middle.

Animood · 14/10/2021 21:25

All three are nice normal names.

Unusual for MN!

ofwarren · 14/10/2021 21:49

William, then Henry, then Finn.
I'm not keen on Finn at all.

Where do you live? Finn isn't popular here at all so just wondering where it's big in popularity!
SummerLew · 24/10/2021 21:29

My nearly 20 year old is called Finn. It's been in the top 100 for nearly 20ish years now and is still climbing, so I don't expect it will date.
I also really like William but have never warmed to Henry.

GoodnightGrandma · 24/10/2021 21:30

Finn or Will.

Darceyhemingway · 24/10/2021 21:30

Heartdogs · 24/10/2021 21:33

I don't like Finn at all.
Henry is lovely.
William is also good.

Hetyanni · 24/10/2021 21:34

Henry

Chattercino · 24/10/2021 21:36

I've got three Finns/Finleys in my class this year

TakeYourFinalPosition · 24/10/2021 21:37

@fiddlestick124 I think it was the fourth most popular name for boys last year? It was definitely well in the top ten, it’s been on our shortlist but it’s far too popular, I think. Sadly!

Iamanicepersonreally · 24/10/2021 21:39

William
