Indi or Rose

Due in March,
Either of these names goes well with the names of our current children, I've loved Rose for ages, but DH has come round to it seeing Stacey Solomon's name choice Hmm

Which is your preference and what middle name would you put with it?

Thank you 😊

Rose is far more elegant and classy, imo. I do like Indira nn Indi - I know one - but not as a standalone name.

Darceyhemingway · 13/10/2021 18:22

Indie for sure

Darceyhemingway · 13/10/2021 18:22

Indi rose flows really well!

Pottedpalm · 13/10/2021 19:25

I like India Rose, you could abbreviate to Indi.

Thank you all, still churning it over. DH not keen on Rose as a middle name.
Happy to have Rose with Rosie as NN while little. Was thinking about the Rosie's I have known, not all graceful but each suited the name so that makes me less worried that that could be a problem.
I do get that Indi could look like a mispelling, Like the a or e has been missed off. India I do think is pretty but the whole Katie Hopkins thing put me off it a few years ago. I think there will be a big spoke on Roses now because of Stacey Solomon which is a bit annoying as I've liked it for ages. My daughter whose name was in the Top 20 has no other with her name in the school and my daughter with the rare name has 2 in her nursery class and another that sounds the same but is spelt differently! You can never tell I guess. I'm not worried about being hugely unusual but prefer them not to be one of twenty in the school at secondary, just feels more practical.

I wouldn’t worry about Stacey Solomon. She’s hardly hugely famous. Even if she was, most people aren’t going to know the name of her child - I didn’t. And Rose is a standard, normal name, not a wacky celeb one. And while it has been used a lot as a middle name, it’s not common as a first name. I don’t know a single one.

Rose is beautiful, one of my favourite names

Agreed. I vaguely know Stacey Solomon (I know her name and that she's some sort of celebrity/influencer?) but had no clue of her baby's name.

I have a Rose and she rarely meets another one. It's at the 'there is another Rose in a different year at my school" level, not 'there are three girls named Rose in my class' level.

Middle names don't really matter beyond the baby name announcement stage - I have no idea of the middle names of DD's classmates. Or most of her cousins actually!

I refer Indi to Rose but both are lovely.

@NewtoHolland we have Rose as one of two names for our new arrival due November and I get the worry about people thinking you've copied Stacey Solomon with Rose. I don't follow her and not a fan but friends are and my worry is I'll be spending the first few months bating comments of "o, like Stacey" or thinking it's a good solid, hardly used name and she gets to school and there's 5 others Rose's in her class.

AnotherLauraLou · 14/10/2021 16:51

I know 4 Rosie’s, 2 born in the last month, 2 Rosa’s and a Rose.

NewtoHolland · 15/10/2021 10:37

We have one of the most common surnames and when we had our first daughter there had been a child with exactly the same full name that week too! All I keep seeing is rather lovely pictures of Stacey's baby but then perhaps this is specific marketing because I'm pregnant? Thank you feel r all the helpful feedback, it seems Indi is definitely more polarising than Rose.
