Baby will be here in 5 weeks at the latest eeeek!!

We have narrowed our girls choices down to these, what do you think?

Sophia
Emily
Amelie
Emilia

  • All will have the middle name Rose.

I have been very worried abut popularity as I know Emily has been number one for years but my 3 mindees only have known 1 in their school and I haven't met any in any baby/toddler classes with my own child.
Also DC1 is called Monty - a name we chose as we thought he would be the only one etc, - it appears the new neighbours behind us have a Monty born 4 weeks apart so chances are they will start school together in September and be with each other for the next 14 years!

We absolutely have no ideas on boys what so ever and cannot agree on the ones each other like, so any suggestions welcomed too!

Thank you I really like Amelie, and dh quite likes the nn Millie so I think it seems to work on all aspects.

Boys are impossible, randomly we have a few friends with babies named on the list you sent!

Emilia ❤️ (wish I had chosen it)

goldenrachita · 12/10/2021 23:28

Emily. It's classic and much, much less trend-driven than Sophia, Amelie or Emilia.

DramaAlpaca · 12/10/2021 23:31

I love Sophia and Emilia.

Emily is OK but not very exciting.

Amelie is beautiful if you happen to have a French accent. Not so much otherwise.

Lollipop444 · 12/10/2021 23:35

Emily is by far my favourite and then Sophia.

Ds was going to be Emily so I’m slightly biased.

For boys I like Alexander, Hugo, Max, Jack, Henry

jaqueinthebox · 12/10/2021 23:37

Amelie is my favourite from your list, it's really beautiful with Rose too.
As for boys what about
Jasper
Theo/teddy
Jack
Nate
Fredrick

SE13Mummy · 12/10/2021 23:43

I'd choose Sophia from your list.

For a boy, I think George, Reuben, William or James.

Ricekrispie22 · 13/10/2021 05:53

Sophia is popular where I am. My favourite is Emilia.

Albie
Wilf
Elijah
Jago
Willoughby
Alistair
Xander
Jesse
Sonny

daisypond · 13/10/2021 07:37

Sophia is my favourite, though it’s popular, then Emilia - though it will get muddled with Amelia, which I prefer. Emily is dreary and dull. Amelie has been common for years. It’s downmarket and twee. Unless for family reasons, I would pick any other name than the ubiquitous filler name Rose. For boys, maybe the solid staples like Alexander or Nicholas.

Fivebeanchilli · 13/10/2021 07:51

I really like Emilia and Amelie.
Emily is nice enough but Emily Rose feels a little unimaginative (sorry).
I can't get on board with Sophia just because I know so so many.
Sorry for any repeats but how about:
Leon
Rufus
Hugo
Hugh
Angus
Flynn
Caspar
Jasper
Nico
Sebastian
Nathaniel
Benedict
Rafael
Gabriel

20viona · 13/10/2021 07:51

Amelie

BeKindBeYou · 13/10/2021 08:25

Sophia or Amelie - I love both, but Sophia is getting really popular, so if that’s a concern to you, Amelie :).

Boy ideas:

Chester
Stanley
Ernie
Xander
Albie
Oakley

Thank you for all your lovely messages, it looks like this thread is confused as much as me with girls names.

The boys names suggestions are great thanks, there's a few I love but my dh still saying no to any of them.

Emilia is popular but I love it.

Cruz, Roland, Leon, Emmett

GreenerGrass23 · 15/10/2021 12:06

Amelie is my favourite.

I have an Amelie! She is 7 and the only one in her large, Home Counties infant school. So not as popular as I thought it would be.

As a pp suggested earlier it was both Downmarket and twee.... well let's just say I disagree.

hopingforabrighterfuture2021 · 15/10/2021 22:23

If you like those, Amalia or Emmeline might be a nice, not so popular alternative. Sophia is classic and lovely. Emilia is pretty too.

Boys, Hugo and Rafferty are both great, no chance of persuading your husband?!

Otherwise, Rex, Toby, Oliver, Jude, Xavier, Otto, Milo, Sebastian, Jago, George, Frankie…

RussianSpy101 · 15/10/2021 22:25

What about Hector or Jasper for a boy?

My favourite is Emilia from your list.
