Hey, I've just put a post up about two other names, Dusty & Dennis. I was just wondering if anyone preferred Dougie out of them two names? Thanks everyone x

Douglas is alright. But I don't like Dougie. Sounds like Doggie.

HunkyPunk · 04/10/2021 20:02

I like Dennis and Dougie (or Dougal with Dougie as nn?) Dusty not so much….except maybe as a nn for Douglas.

Sheepareawesome · 04/10/2021 20:02

Here in the south west Doug is pronounced dog. I had an ex called Doug and people were forever asking what type if dog I had whenever I mentioned him!

user1493494961 · 04/10/2021 21:27

Dougie is much better than Dusty and Dennis.

KloppsTeeth · 07/10/2021 00:26

Hey Duggee

RiaOverTheRainbow · 07/10/2021 00:43

Douglas yes, Dougie no.

SusieSusieSoo · 07/10/2021 00:50

Peter Kay sketch Dougie is the person in the call centre who rings up if his Nan pulls the emergency cord in her sheltered housing (sorry!)

CakesOfVersailles · 07/10/2021 00:53

Would only use it as a nickname (for Douglas probably).

I like it more than Dusty.

Snugglybuggly · 07/10/2021 00:53

Don't like it

alpinerain · 07/10/2021 03:37

Definitely prefer Dusty to both Dennis and Dougie.

Grasshopper90 · 07/10/2021 07:50

@KloppsTeeth

Hey Duggee
That’s the first thing that comes to mind for me to
Grasshopper90 · 07/10/2021 07:51

too*

PanicBuyingSprouts · 07/10/2021 07:53

CBeebies are advertising Hey Duggee (pronounced Dougie) at the moment.

It's a bit like naming your child Iggle Piggle.

MintyGreenDream · 07/10/2021 08:03

Unfortunately the only time I've heard that name is as a insult.Dougie round here means stupid person.

emmathedilemma · 07/10/2021 15:54

I like it but Douglas / Doug / Dougie is quite common in Scotland.

Ozberry · 07/10/2021 15:58

I like it! I know a Dougie in his 20s - I think he’s officially Douglas. Sounds really good in our accent (Manchester)

midsomermurderess · 07/10/2021 18:09

I like it, where I am it's pronounced Doogie.

Blubells · 07/10/2021 19:43

Douglas is ok.

But not Dougie/Doogie/Doggy. Way too twee and comical imo

canyoutoleratethis · 07/10/2021 19:44

But Dusty is a girls name?! Confused Do you mean Dustin?

Tulips15 · 07/10/2021 19:45

I don't like any of your 3 names.
sorry

ManifestingJoy · 07/10/2021 19:46

I like it. Isn't there a book out called shuggie bain. think that's short for douglas.

ThroughThickAndThin01 · 07/10/2021 19:50

Ds has a friend called Dougie (duggie in pronunciation) …so cool.

Peggytheredhen · 07/10/2021 19:50

Dougie is a dog's name for me, sorry. Doug(las) is OK. For me it was (as a child) a Dad's name, like Ted, or Brian. But I knew one at school. (I am from the South West and we didn't pronounce it Dog!)

Idontlike · 07/10/2021 19:52

I knew a Douglas who was always known as Dougie so I like the name as I liked him.

Dusty -bin
Dennis -the menace

Doyoumind · 07/10/2021 19:52

Showing my age but it reminds me of Doogie Howser.
