Both very nice names. Possibly Jasper has the edge. Then you could use Noah for the next one? Grin

IVflytrap · 03/10/2021 11:10

Jasper!

Noah is nice but very popular.

Ftm2022 · 03/10/2021 11:11

Goodness, don’t even want to start thinking of the next one after experiencing how tough pregnancy is Grin

I should add that what puts me off Noah is how popular it is. What puts me off Jasper is that it’s not popular enough haha. Jasper sort of had a posh sound to me which I didn’t like the idea of.

For once on one of these threads, I actually really like both names. Noah would edge it for me. For what it's worth, I have two kids aged 3 and 6 and neither of them have a Noah in their friendship / school / pre school groups so I don't think it's that popular. And I know a couple of dogs called Jasper so that would put me off slightly (although my aunt has a cat with the same name as my youngest so wouldn't preclude it!)

Ellmau · 03/10/2021 12:18

I love Jasper.

Whentheydontmeanwhattheysay · 03/10/2021 12:20

Noah

But that’s because I also know people with pets called Jasper.

Unsure1983 · 03/10/2021 12:20

Jasper

TheWonderCat · 03/10/2021 12:33

Noah

DramaAlpaca · 03/10/2021 12:35

Jasper, by a long way. I like it a lot.

I don't understand the popularity of Noah, it's such a whiny sounding name.

MyAnacondaMight · 03/10/2021 12:38

Noah and Jasper have very different class connotations, if that sort of thing bothers you.

Both are nice names, but I would be surprised to meet brothers Noah and Jasper. The middle class version of Noah seems to be Theo right now - does that appeal?

AdaHopper · 03/10/2021 13:11

My DS is Jasper and his bf is Noah. They sound nice together. I prefer Jasper obviously :).

KirstenBlest · 03/10/2021 13:28

Anything but Noah

Herecomesthesun70 · 03/10/2021 13:30

We have a Jasper. Definitely not posh here Grin

GemmaRuby · 03/10/2021 13:31

I like both. Jasper was our second choice for DS.

Jasper is quite middle class, which it sounds like you don’t want.

Frogsandsheep · 03/10/2021 13:35

Noah and Jasper have very different class connotations

@MyAnacondaMight

Is this recent? When I had my Noah he was the only one we knew and the name didn’t seem to have any class connotations.
I’d hate to think people would judge him because of his name Sad

Frogsandsheep · 03/10/2021 13:37

@Ftm2022

I have a noah but really like both names and jasper was on my list for my subsequent boys’ names Smile
Which goes better with your surname?

GemmaRuby · 03/10/2021 14:36

@Frogsandsheep I don’t think Noah has any bad connotations, it’s just that Jasper is a bit posh and Noah isn’t particularly.

Jmaho · 03/10/2021 14:37

My 8 year old is Noah. Only one other child with same name in whole school

Frogsandsheep · 03/10/2021 14:40

@GemmaRuby

Thank you.

My Noah is an older teenager and it wasn’t a popular name at all when he was born and some people were actually surprised at the name! I believe it’s much more popular now.

RobinPenguins · 03/10/2021 14:41

I prefer Noah, to me Jasper is a cat’s name.

TatianaBis · 03/10/2021 15:30

Jasper by far. Noah is a dog's name.

Ftm2022 · 03/10/2021 18:48

@NanooCov thank you! We’re in New Zealand where Noah has been in the top 3 names for the last few years. Jasper on the other hand is down in the 40s.

@MyAnacondaMight
We love Theo. The problem with waiting to have kids is that our family and friends have taken our favourite names for their own kids in the last 2 years, including Theo. Previously our top names were Oliver, Lucas and Theo.

Ftm2022 · 03/10/2021 18:55

@GemmaRuby

Actually we’d prefer the name to not have any class connotations
