Opinions on this name, I think it's so pretty and think daffie as a nickname is so cute 🤍

Daphne is fine.

Daffie/ daffy means a bit stupid, so don’t do that!

PotteringAlong · 30/09/2021 21:38

Daphne is lovely.

Daffy (like the duck) is not.

MaverickDanger · 30/09/2021 21:39

Think it’s going to see a little boost in popularity because of Bridgerton.

I’ve heard of two in the last 6 months. Maeve is another one that seems to be slightly on the up.

Toottooot · 30/09/2021 21:41

Daffy Duck or daffodil - please don't.

Blubells · 30/09/2021 22:01

Daphne is beautiful.

Daffie is ridiculous. And a duck.

RuthW · 30/09/2021 22:02

Lovely

Synchrony · 30/09/2021 22:13

I love both.

Whentheydontmeanwhattheysay · 30/09/2021 22:18

Daphne -lovely

Daffie just makes me think of Daffy Duck too.

Bobbybobbins · 30/09/2021 22:19

My niece is a Daphne and she is mainly Dee for short

Viviennemary · 30/09/2021 22:19

Daffie is dreadful. Not that keen on Daphne.

Moonface123 · 30/09/2021 22:20

Very nice.

Tellmewhat · 30/09/2021 22:35

Both awful sorry.

H1Drangea · 30/09/2021 22:40

I like Daphne , not keen on Daffie though

Kite22 · 30/09/2021 22:43

I wouldn't go for Daffie Duck.

I mean, Daphne isn't my favourite, but it is better than being called a duck all your life.

Concestor · 30/09/2021 22:44

I know a Daphne, she lives in the West Midlands where she is called Daff, or Daffernee. She hates it. What's the accent where you live and how is it likely to sound spoken by locals?

OppsUpsSide · 30/09/2021 22:45

I like the sound of it… on someone else.
Would hate to be called it myself.

Rainallnight · 30/09/2021 22:48

I LOVE Daphne and really regret not using it for DD (we just didn’t think of it, tbh).

I’m not keen on that nickname though. Does it need a nickname?

Milkbottlelegs · 30/09/2021 22:50

No need for the nickname. Daphne is lovely as it is. It’s not like it shortens it.

Propertysearch · 30/09/2021 22:53

I would not like to be called Daphne. Very drab and uninteresting to my ear. Daffy though- that’s really awful.

Buttons294749 · 01/10/2021 10:04

Had I been permitted DD would have been Daphne. Slightly still wish for another baby girl so I can try again with DH 🤣

daisypond · 01/10/2021 13:30

Daphne is great. Daffie isn’t.

Blubells · 01/10/2021 13:38

Daphne is beautiful and do easy to say.

I wouldn't shorten it at all, but definitely not to Daffy (Duck)!!

peaceinourtime · 01/10/2021 16:45

Very nice, Daffy is a cute nickname.

TheYearOfSmallThings · 01/10/2021 16:48

I like Daphne, and I also like Daffy (not Daffie).

IamnotwhouthinkIam · 02/10/2021 00:32

"Daffy" is a no go for me (it's either the Duck or slang for daft/stupid), that sound is the reason I'm not very keen on the name Daphne in the first place.
