One of the original US Teen Mom women named their second child Nova Lee.

It's not high on my list but it's not as bad as Stormy Water

It was always a Corsa in Spain.

Another one of the Teen Moms (Brianna)also has a daughter called Nova. I think it's quickly becoming one of those tacky names, which is a shame as I love it.

I asked this today on a thread and got ripped for considering Nova. I think it’s beautiful, but I do worry that it’s a bit of a fad in how fast it’s gotten trendy and I’d hate for it to be like ‘luna’ if you get me.

I think it’s a beautiful name though but I’m leaning towards middle name

I prefer Stormy without the added water.

I asked about this name too a couple of weeks ago and I totally agree.

@waitingpatientlyforspring

When I hear Nova I think of the character from American Pie who said on a date 'My friends call me Nova, as in Casanova'.

Like others have said, if you choose an unusual name you are much more likely to hear negative comments or get raised eyebrows, so long as you are prepared for that and won't get defensive then call your child what you want.

Nova is no Stormy-Cloud at least 😂

Omg same! 😂
ChrissyPlummer · 01/10/2021 09:42

No, reminds me of the car. I also think it’s the word that is forbidden on these threads.

Viviennemary · 01/10/2021 09:44

Awful. Wasn't there a magazine called that once.

MerryMarigold · 01/10/2021 09:45

I really like it. I'm not sure why but I do.

LaurieFairyCake · 01/10/2021 09:46

Ooh my first car !

No

MerryMarigold · 01/10/2021 09:50

I wish in Early Years and I have never met a Luna or a Nova.

We have had Vogue (hate it although she's adorable), Rayna (ok), Bella-Rose (definitely not just Bella, nuff said), Willow (I like it), Violet (bit old lady for me), Serena (love this)

mafted · 01/10/2021 09:57

I'm trying to imagine myself now as a woman in her forties saying "Hello I'm Nova MySurname" and I'm not keen on it.

HandScreen · 01/10/2021 09:59

I love it

MrsMoastyToasty · 01/10/2021 10:04

" No va" means "not going" in Spanish.

Zinfandelli · 01/10/2021 10:11

I used to work with a Nova, I imagine she'd be late 40s or older by now. Really liked it on her, but she also had an unusual surname which had a nice ring to it.

Never heard of a Vauxhall Nova, so it doesn't have car connotations for everybody!

thewhatsit · 01/10/2021 10:13

I quite like it and my usual taste is classic names.

I like that it’s not frilly, that it doesn’t end it y or ie, that it’s not vowel heavy and that there aren’t twenty ways of spelling it.

manhattenrain · 01/10/2021 10:43

I love it. Sounds like a warrior.
