Are the names lara and alora too similar for sisters?

Yes imo. They share too many of the same letters/sounds for me, despite being different numbers of syllables. Depending on whether Lara or Alora is your first DD you could have similar style names though - say Lara and Elenora or Alora and Lana.

MajorCarolDanvers · 28/09/2021 15:45

Far too similar sorry.

Ellarain · 28/09/2021 15:45

Yes

crikey456 · 28/09/2021 15:46

I would say too similar as well unfortunately

user1493494961 · 28/09/2021 15:49

Yes, I would say they are.

GloomAndDoom · 28/09/2021 16:21

I think they're fine but you are going to get people muddling it up and calling one or the other Laura

millzcrawf · 28/09/2021 16:29

They are quite similar but if you love it go for it !! 💗

Cece18 · 28/09/2021 16:38

I think you’re right they are too similar ☹️ I’ve got a older daughter lara and another one called sienna, I’ve just had another girl 2 weeks ago but really struggling for a name for her, contenders so far:
Athena
Ayla
Lila
Emilia
Any suggestions are very welcome 🤗

Love Athena from your list.

How about:
Artemis
Taryn
Keziah
Arianna
Julia
Tamsin
Ruby

Happenchance · 28/09/2021 17:04

Eudora
Althea
Aphra
Audra

Though personally I'd go for a name that doesn't end in a, such as:
Fern
Jocelyn
Audrey

Athena is beautiful - goddess of wisdom whose symbol was an owl. Very common in Greece but not so much here.

ILoveShula · 28/09/2021 18:18

Athena -Yes
Ayla - no, don't like the way it sounds or how it looks
Lila - no and not with lara
Emilia - nice but a bit overused

IamnotwhouthinkIam · 28/09/2021 18:34

Athena is beautiful. I like Emilia too but it's more popular now (and may get confused with even more popular Emilia). I'd avoid another L or S name and I find Ayla a bit trendy sounding personally. Names I think are similar style to your choices -

Elena
Eliana
Aurora
Aurelia
Thalia
Gaia
Cassia

IamnotwhouthinkIam · 28/09/2021 18:35

Should say confused with even more popular Amelia!

muddyford · 28/09/2021 18:50

Love Athena, if you can get past the poster shop connection.

meadowbleu · 28/09/2021 19:16

Congratulations Flowers

With a Lara and Sienna I really wouldn't pick another name ending in A, sorry.

Suggestions

Tamsyn
Fleur
Robyn
Carys
Penelope
Annabel
Marguerite
Vivienne
Merryn

Hope you find something you love. Enjoy your baby.

GreyGoose1980 · 29/09/2021 13:20

Zoe, Margot, Jasmine, Vivienne, Gabrielle, Naomi

lemonsyellow · 29/09/2021 13:25

I’d go for Athena out of those.
