Baby Name Help! (Girl)

Currently pregnant and not finding out what we're having. We are struggling on deciding a girls name and need help! We think we have it narrowed down to three:

Elowen : We like the idea of the nickname Winnie
Briony : It would honour a family name
Brighton : We know it's unusual but is meaningful to us

We would ideally like to avoid anything that will become insanely popular like top 100, but are open.

Does anyone have any ideas for other similar names or favourites from these three? Thank you!

I love Elowen, it’s such a beautiful name. Names with a similar feel to me would be Cassia, Lowenna, Florence, Hazel, Felicity, Eloise. Sorry but I can’t imagine a baby girl called Brighton, it seems very masculine to me as a name. I don’t mind Briony, maybe as a middle name to honour your family member? Good luck.

I like Brighton, it's different and you could call her Bri for short 😊

Top 100 names don’t actually feel that popular in real life. I’d rather have a commonplace name than be named after a city personally.

I quite like Briony though

I like your first two (although I prefer the Bryony spelling personally). Brighton is a bit too "out there" for me, sorry. She might end up with the nickname Rock!

I like Elowen and Brighton. Could you use one as first name and the other two as middle names?

beingwithbella03 · 27/09/2021 18:32

Absolutely love Brighton! Our girl is due in 2 weeks and we're calling her Autumn 😊

Undereyebags8 · 27/09/2021 18:34

Elowen and Briony I like!

Brighton doesn’t work as a name for me. I don’t like cities as names - I always feel a bit Hmm when American celebs call their children things like Harlow or Bristol.

Lowen is a name too - very close to Elowen, I think it’s Cornish. Winnie is a really cute nickname.

DramaAlpaca · 27/09/2021 18:36

Not Brighton, people will think she was conceived there Grin

I like Elowen, but don't think Winnie is a natural diminutive of it.

I prefer Bryony to Briony, and it's nice.

Elowen and Briony are nice.
Brighton means 'the farmstead belonging to a man named 'bright helmet'. Is that a girl's name?

whatausername · 27/09/2021 19:29

"Meaningful to us" = conceived there

Elowen and Briony are both very nice, Brighton is ridiculous.
