Theo or Joshua

Final thread! Promise!

Theo or Joshua (Josh)?

(Slightly nervous Theo would get the odd person calling him fee-yo which is a big bug bear).

His sisters are both popular "pretty" names. Without being too outing they are similar sounding to Zoe and Amelie.

Joshua. Too many Theos. Even though that too is a lovely name.

PurBal · 26/09/2021 20:24

Joshua.

musicalfrog · 26/09/2021 20:27

They are both a bit yawn nowadays, sorry.

Slagertha · 26/09/2021 20:27

Joshua

toadstool32 · 26/09/2021 20:28

That's good for me @musicalfrog. We like popular names!

Joshua, it's a great name and not that commonly used at the moment (and a great bible character!) Theo is a lot more popular.

Slagertha · 26/09/2021 20:30

If you're not going to choose, why bother posting! Op asked for people to say which one they would pick out-of the two, not for your unwanted opinion that the names to boring...what an arse you are

17caterpillars1mouse · 26/09/2021 20:31

Joshua is a gorgeous name. I really love it and actual know of no little Joshua's and never hear it in the park

Please not another little Theo!

OrangeTortoise · 26/09/2021 20:32

DramaAlpaca · 26/09/2021 20:32

I have a Joshua-he goes by josh or j
I hate Theo-I used to work with one and he was a useless sod
Theo is a bit overused but Joshua is a classic name

musicalfrog · 26/09/2021 21:14

@toadstool32

That's good for me *@musicalfrog*. We like popular names!
If I had to choose then agree with the others, Joshua is nicer.
ZoyaTheDestroyer · 26/09/2021 21:59

Joshua, although be aware that it was REALLY popular in the 2000s and therefore there are a lot of teen and twenty-something Joshuas around. Your Joshua will always be twenty years too young for his name.

That being said, if you live in a part of the country where 'th' is pronounced 'f' then the decision is made for you, because Feo will drive you mad.

HerRoyalRisesAgain · 26/09/2021 22:02

Theo. Every Joshua I know has been an awful person so the name is ruined for me

Hellocatshome · 26/09/2021 22:23

Not Joshua it is the kind of name that makes.my teeth itch. I can hardly bare to say the name out loud. I have no reason for this though.

millzcrawf · 26/09/2021 22:25

Theo x

Elisemum · 27/09/2021 03:04

Both are very nice, I prefer Josh - that was on my top list for a boy always. And no, they are not boring at all, they are lovely classy names, and they are notmal. In today’s world that’s a big compliment.

alexdgr8 · 27/09/2021 03:09

both are good solid names.
but if using theo, i'd personally prefer to register it as a full name, eg theodore/ theodosius,
as theo itself literally means god.
anyway, makes a nice change to be picking between two proper names, not some invented mickey-mouse moniker.

Balonzette · 27/09/2021 05:27

Joshua 💜

louisacat · 27/09/2021 09:59

I love them both. We go to church so every little boy seems to be Joshua but it's a gorgeous name and, as you say, you like popular names. We considered it but chose a similar but less well known one.

user1471481356 · 27/09/2021 10:00

Theo. Joshs are naughty haha

TheWonderCat · 27/09/2021 13:44

Theo!

I’m biased though as I have one and he is the most adorable boy.

chillied · 27/09/2021 13:50

Both nice, but my preference would be Theo. I think it's a really nice name. For me it conjures a picture of someone kind, intelligent, a bit graceful.

Josh conjures something more blokey for me.

Would saying Theo with your child something-like-Zoe's name be a tongue-twister, or not?

ILoveShula · 27/09/2021 15:12

Joshua
