Dfriend is having a daughter and has always been sure she's going to use Heidi.
She's undecided on the middle name ( definitely wants to use a mn but no family names are in the running)
Would you choose
Joy
Rose
Grace
Emmeline
Thank you

Heidi Thank You is an usual one, she probably won't meet any others Grin

EdgeOfACoin · 23/09/2021 08:28

Rose and Grace are very popular middle names atm. They are lovely names, but either one would be the equivalent of giving your daughter the middle name 'Louise' in the 1980s. That may not be an issue for your friend, but it's something to consider.

I like Joy, but think Heidi Emmeline sounds lovely.

daisypond · 23/09/2021 08:48

Emmeline.
The other names are nice, but one-syllable middle names are just filler names. As first names, they are much better.

Fivebeanchilli · 23/09/2021 08:49

Heidi Emmeline.
I just don't like Joy and the others are very dull / overused.

RobinPenguins · 23/09/2021 08:50

Rose and Grace are popular middle names but that’s because they flow well with loads of other first names.

I don’t think Heidi Joy or Heidi Emmeline flow at all.

toastofthetown · 23/09/2021 11:06

Emmeline. The others are the beige of middle names.

KirstenBlest · 23/09/2021 11:55

Emmeline. The others are filler middle names

KirstenBlest · 23/09/2021 12:16

By filler middle name, I mean like the the middle name Jane or Louise in the 1970s.

If Heidi flows with the surname, that's what matters.

If it's Heidi Higham, Heidi Lowe or something, I'd think of a different first name.

Noshowwithoutpunch · 23/09/2021 20:57

Thanks for your thoughts.
I love Emmeline too and agree Rose and Grace the go-to fillers of this generation ( although I personally adore Grace).
Emmeline is now a front runner alongside the new entry- Madeline.
DominicRaabGrin. Hopefully she'll grow up with impeccable manners.

I think Madeleine found was considerably better than Emmeline because it starts with a consonant

StarryStarrySocks · 23/09/2021 21:04

Another vote for Heidi Emmeline, that's a lovely name.

WeDidntMeanToGoToSea · 23/09/2021 21:07

Now someone's mentioned Louise, I actually think Heidi Louise works really well. And it's a lovely name and nobody uses it any more.

I think the rest are either too done to death or don't flow, with the exception of Joy, which somehow sounds a little too pat/neat.

Starlight39 · 23/09/2021 21:15

I think Madeline is beautiful and flows better than Emmeline. I think Heidi sounds better with a middle name that starts with a consonant. (the "ee" of Heidi merges into the" e" of Emmeline a bit). I also love Heidi Grace.

Heidi sounds good with other 3 or 4 syllable middle names:
Heidi Jessica
Heidi Louisa
Heidi Miranda
Heidi Sophia
Heidi Clementine

m0therofdragons · 23/09/2021 21:17

I have a Heidi Matilda. Love the name Heidi!

NatKat2 · 24/09/2021 04:22

Heidi Madeleine is lovely. HM initials could be fun

puppyknowsbest · 24/09/2021 08:46

Heidi Emmeline is quite hard to say with the two vowel sounds together.
I agree with pp that Heidi Louise works well.
Or Heidi Christine
Heidi Frances

Heidi Matilda is nice @m0therofdragons

EdgeOfTheSky · 24/09/2021 09:46

I don’t think vowel -vowel combinations run well together, where a name finishes in a vowel and the next starts in a vowel.

Of those I would pick Joy.

TheWonderCat · 24/09/2021 11:47

Rose and Grace are filler middle names and the equivalent of Louise in the 80s. Way overdone, and will date.

I would choose Joy out of that list. Heidi Kate is nice.

Babydust13 · 24/09/2021 21:44

I had a boy but my fav girls name for a future daughter 🤞🏼 is Heidi and we're going with Elizabeth for a middle name

From the choices my favourite is Rose I've always loved that name

FWBNC · 24/09/2021 21:54

Heidi Grace is the nicest I think.

It really doesn't matter that it's popular.

m0therofdragons · 26/09/2021 12:38

@KirstenBlest dd is 10 and I’ve never noticed HM - I might start calling her her majesty. She’d like that! (Obviously I know her initial are hm but just hadn’t seen it as anything other that letters)

KirstenBlest · 26/09/2021 13:58

I don't like Heidi Grace at all. I think it sounds harsh

millzcrawf · 26/09/2021 22:37

Rose or Emmeline 💗

ofwarren · 26/09/2021 22:38

Emmeline
