A boy called Leandro?

Do you like Leandro for a boy or is it too unusual? I had never heard of it before which makes me a bit nervous. My husband is Hispanic and we are trying to find a name that works in both languages.

It is a common name in Cyprus

DDSMUM2 · 23/09/2021 06:13

Thank you. What would the typical nicknames be do you know?

I really like Leandro. It's not too unusual at all.

Elisemum · 23/09/2021 07:10

I really like it and everyone would call him Leo - which is lovely. I actually wanted to use it myself but we are Irish so husband said NO:). If your husband is Spanish then it’s perfect name- works great in English and all other languages

My other absolute favourite name is Javi (Javier) ! But again sadly we’ve not one drop of Hispanic blood in us so it would be super silly for our son, but perfect for yours!

It's lovely. Leander would be familiar to a lot of English people (Greek mythology/Shakespeare/rowing club), so I'd hope you'd find that it's nothing to worry about.

I’m Blush that I know this but Katie Price was once engaged to an Argentinian called Leandro. I think it’s a gorgeous name.

Nickname Leo?

MaggieFS · 23/09/2021 13:57

Absolutely fine. It is unusual in the sense of uncommon but it's easily pronounceable and doesn't have any faddy spelling so go for it!

I share your embarrassment!

I love it. Not keen on Leo though and imagine it would be shortened.

Skyla2005 · 23/09/2021 17:08

It's lovely maybe Leon if your not too sure

RightOnTheEdge · 23/09/2021 17:09

Its a lovely name!

zoopigi · 23/09/2021 19:05

Leo, Leon and Andro would be nicknames

MissMarpleRocks · 23/09/2021 19:08

I know quite a few.
Lovely name.

Shortened to Leo, Len, Andro & Leon. One goes by the full name.

DDSMUM2 · 23/09/2021 19:16

Wow! Where are you based MissMarpleRocks, if you don’t mind sharing?

I know a lot of Greeks & Italians if that helps!

FlamingoDust · 24/09/2021 18:43

It's lovely! Also like Andro as a shortening although not keen on Leo
