Me and DP have settled on Callie or Calista (shortened to Callie) for our baby girl. I'm not sure whether to go full length or shortened, what impressions do these names give please?! The surname is two syllables and I don't have a middle name for her yet either!

Calista is a beautiful name and it would be a travesty to not use it

PoolNooodle · 22/09/2021 11:35

Calista

Twizbe · 22/09/2021 11:39

I like Calista it's a very good strong female name.

Beautiful name and good nickname choice

TheWonderCat · 22/09/2021 13:00

Calista with Callie as a nickname. It’s such a nice name.

Babygirlnames1 · 22/09/2021 13:44

Oh thanks, that's unanimous then! Brilliant!

I agree - full name (for official stuff) Calista (v nice and not too popular) with nickname/usual name Callie.

user147856 · 22/09/2021 14:58

There is famous actress with this first name, which is the only time I've heard it, I think.
I did also know a girl at school called Callie, but her full name was Caroline.

DotDotDotDotDot · 22/09/2021 14:59

Calista is beautiful, with lovely meaning. I have seen it spelt with 1 and 2 L’s, I’m not sure which one is correct though. Callie is a cute nickname. Good luck.

mooloop · 22/09/2021 15:08

Ooh I love both! So on that basis go for Calista nn Callie so you get to use both Grin

DramaAlpaca · 22/09/2021 20:13

Another vote for Calista.

IamnotwhouthinkIam · 22/09/2021 21:01

Calista is beautiful (so has an appropriate meaning!) where as Callie is cute - I think it would be nice to call her Calista to give her the option of which she likes. Calista Flockhart isn't very famous anymore , so I don't think it's especially associated with her now.

ShowOfHands · 22/09/2021 21:06

Calista is pretty but I prefer Calliope. The Calliope I know is a Callie.

upaladderagain · 24/09/2021 11:23

Beautiful name. It would definitely be my top, top pick if I wasn't in grandma rather than mummy territory.

RuthW · 24/09/2021 12:12

Callista is lovely

KirstenBlest · 24/09/2021 13:41

Calista is lovely
If you name her just Callie it will get lengthened

Elisemum · 24/09/2021 16:14

I have a friend who’s daughter is named Kallie. Anyway both name and NN are lovely. Go for it

peaceinourtime · 24/09/2021 16:28

If you like the name Callie use it, there is not much point of choosing a longer/formal name if you intend to shorten/modify it. Callie is perfectly fine as a stand alone name.

upaladderagain · 24/09/2021 22:26

Meant to say, go with the full Callista. It's beautiful and gives you, and her, other options.

BeKindBeYou · 27/10/2021 07:42

I’d go Callie! Beautiful.

The4ks · 27/10/2021 09:58

Calista is very pretty so would officially use that then shorten to Callie.
The one young Callie I knows full name is Caledonia (NOT a recommendation).

Peachbubble · 27/10/2021 10:04

I'd go for Calista, beautiful name.

daisypond · 27/10/2021 10:07

Definitely full name.

LorenzoVonMatterhorn · 27/10/2021 10:10

I loved the name Calleigh, which was a character in csi miami.

Calista is lovely.

How is Calliope pronounced?
