We like Ted as stand alone name, what do you think?

I really like it! It’s a great name!

It's better than Teddy!

Why are people comparing it to Teddy 🧸?

I'd assume Teddy was a nickname too, short for Theodore.

Both Ted and Edward are beautiful names. If I would give a name Edward, I would call him Edward, why to give such a beautiful name if you can see it in the passport only and everybody calls you Ted. It’s just my opinion. I am always for beautiful full names 😍. But Ted as Ted also sounds nice.

@Pollythecat15 my cat is called Ted too

Ted???
How about as a middle name, with 'Father' as the first?

Go for it. When I was a school there was a Lawrie and someone in my class's mother kept on saying his real name must be Lawrence. It wasn't. I don't see a problem in using a a shortened version of a name as a first name, it doesn't have to be the longer version particularly as it will have to accompanied by an explanation and the longer form will always be announced and used in the first instance ie first days/receiving awards.

Ted is lovely as either a full name or as a nickname

The 'just' Ted I know of became Tedward almost as soon as he set foot in the door at school.
