DH is very picky with names, we finally agreed we liked these two. I like Adriana more but he prefers Ariana. What do you guys think?

Personally Ariana and I find the 'd' a makes the name a bit hard on the ear.

But both are lovely.

3GreenPullups · 18/09/2021 15:57

(have to add that i named my 2 names that no-one seems to like so what do I know!!)

daisypond · 18/09/2021 16:06

Adriana is a stronger sounding name, but I don’t really like it much.
Ariana is OK but is a mix of bland and frilly.

Synchrony · 18/09/2021 16:35

I prefer Adriana because I find Ariana a bit insipid. Blends in with all the Ariella, Eliana type names.

Personally I prefer Andrea and Andrina.

TheRabbitStoleMyHat · 18/09/2021 16:56

Ariana.

RuthW · 18/09/2021 17:43

Both lovely but I prefer Ariana (Ari-arna)

WisestIsShe · 18/09/2021 17:45

Both nice. I met the loveliest baby the other day who was named Ariadna.

Brollywasntneededafterall · 18/09/2021 17:48

Not a name that looks like Adrian...

Ariana /Arianna is nicer..

DramaAlpaca · 18/09/2021 18:54

I prefer Ariana.

Quercus3 · 18/09/2021 19:12

I prefer Adriana. I like Addy as a nickname

HungryHippo11 · 18/09/2021 20:01

Adriana is a stronger sounding name. Arianna is a bit frilly and wispy.

I love the suggestion of Ariadna or, even better, Ariadne . Beautiful

Unsure1983 · 19/09/2021 05:14

Adriana 100%

LimeRedBanana · 19/09/2021 05:27

Adriana.

Ariana lacks substance.

Mia237 · 19/09/2021 08:25

Thank you very much for your replies, it’s great to see what other people think. Ariadna is pretty as well. Funny enough that’s a name DH’s grandad suggested ages ago! For some reason, despite Ariana having more votes, I still love Adriana but I’ll keep the three in the list for a girl for now (we will know the sex at birth) ☺️

Ariadne is nicer. Adrienne is quite nice. The only -iana name I like is Diana

Flamingosnbears · 20/09/2021 09:26

Adriana - strong and feminine

PeriChristmas · 20/09/2021 09:27

Arianna (prefer 2 Ns)

Or...
Arabella?
Amelianna
Amelia
Amelie

PeriChristmas · 20/09/2021 09:28

Also I love Anneliese

PoolNooodle · 20/09/2021 09:28

Really don’t like adriana sorry, prefer Ariana

AntiHop · 20/09/2021 09:33

Adriana definitely! It was on my shortlist for dd2. Ariana is also a beautiful name. I wouldn't chose it as with Ariana Grande being so famous, people may assume a link (nothing bad about this, I'm just not a fan particularly). Also Ari for short sounds like you are saying Harry with a dropped H, which could get confusing.

One of the reasons I didn't chose Adriana, is because dh and I couldn't decide on whether to pronounce it with a short or long A.

Mia237 · 20/09/2021 09:51

Unfortunately for me DH vetoed Adriana now 😩 and I love the name! Ariana I like but I’m not feeling it as I want Adriana. As much as I want a girl I’m starting to wish is a boy as we both agree on the name. I’m finding this very difficult as DH turns down all the names I like 😭

Ariana is a very girly name. Adriana sounds more masculine (if you know what I mean).

JessicaPaul123 · 20/09/2021 12:12

I prefer Adriana!

CatsArePeople · 21/09/2021 20:47

Adriana or Oriana

Mymapuddlington · 21/09/2021 20:48

I like both but prefer Ariana, also like Adienna and Ariadne
