Felix

What would you expect a Felix to be like? I know this changes once you know them, but I'm interested in preconceptions just so I, (potentially) enter into this knowingly!

If you have suggestions for other boy names I may like, I'm all ears!

Thanks

As a child, a gentle, slim boy with brown hair and big brown eyes who is well behaved and well spoken and kind. I don't know any children named Felix! So I don't know why this image is so strong in my mind! I can even picture what a Felix would be wearing (a knitted striped jumper and cords - my imaginary Felix's parents dress him in a cute slightly scruffy, slightly posh way)

A cat

LanisHouseLot · 15/09/2021 05:02

A bright, friendly boy with curly brown hair. Very middle class. Into Lego (but the more serious sets such as the architecture series) and history.

BeKindBeYou · 15/09/2021 07:19

Love the name Felix - I knew a felix - sooooo cute but a little bit cheeky (in a good way!)

ChewChewPanda · 15/09/2021 07:24

Blonde and cute and very smiley (I know two and coincidentally it’s true of both). Agree with the v middle class comment above too.

Elisemum · 15/09/2021 08:08

A cat, I’m sorry :( or if it has to be a person than a tall skinny nerd with glasses. But I don’t know any Felix’ maybe if I knew one it would make me feel totally different.

NailsNeedDoing · 15/09/2021 08:09

I like the name Felix, but it makes me think of a cat too.

MrsEricBana · 15/09/2021 08:13

I'd say cute on an impish little lad but I don't think it's great on an older boy or man. I know of 3 and it sounds smart and classical but it doesn't feel solid like, say, Tom, Will etc.

hangonamo · 15/09/2021 08:14

I know two - one is DS, 17, very tall, clever, likes science, films, tennis. Also likes going out with his mates and getting pissed in a field.
The other is primary school age, blond, funny, madcap, friends with loads of girls as well as boys, loves football.

hangonamo · 15/09/2021 08:15

DS likes his name but I should warn you that both have been shortened to Fee at times.

Purplecatshopaholic · 15/09/2021 08:34

I love the name Felix. A Felix always has dark hair in my mind for some reason. Likes rugby, sports in general, friendly and sociable.

bloominglovelyorange · 15/09/2021 09:18

Absolutely love the name Felix. One of my favourite boy names
I'd have no preconceptions

A cat.

Blubells · 15/09/2021 12:43

A fluffy grey cat 🐈 with brown eyes.

Chunkymenrock · 15/09/2021 12:44

A cat for sure.

LowbrowVictoriana · 17/09/2021 12:51

It's a nice name. I always think of Felix to be clever, have curly hair, glasses and smile a lot.

I know such a Felix, he's German though. It seems to be very popular name in many parts of Europe.

Fiftysixthnamechange · 17/09/2021 12:56

I have a felix, he's bright, funny, wicked sense of humour, definitely not a cat. Popular, friendly, and yes, middle class, but hey, somebody has to be! I don't know another felix.

PumpkinKlNG · 17/09/2021 12:59

Cat

thewhatsit · 17/09/2021 18:35

I know a few, I really like it. Pretty middle class or upper middle - all but one are at private schools.

All the children are nice, a bit cheeky but very likeable.

Blubells · 17/09/2021 19:38

It's also a well known brand of cat food in the UK.!

Holidaytan · 17/09/2021 19:41

Felix is a lovely name. I used to care for a lovely one in nursery, years ago.

I know two Felix's who are both like this.

Also both sporty, academically above average. Gregarious. Funny. One very competitive, one a little more highly strung (but those are very much family traits!).

But you wouldn't want to choose a common name..,

Photosymphysis · 18/09/2021 07:21

I can confirm that people get past the cat food connection very quickly.

I've never met a cat called Felix in real life.

Well my Felix is gentle slim brown hair brown eye - usually well behaved (Although currently a bit bolshy)....but found in shorts and tshirt or football kit. He never wears trousers to school (regular school not a posh private one) - he just wears shorts all year round.

Felix means happy.

I love the name.

This is exactly my image of a Felix too. It’s one of my favourite boys names.
