Baby not registered yet and I’m having cold feet about his name!

Baby is 7 weeks old and not being registered til end of September due to COVID.

I couldn’t think of a name for him when I was pregnant which is unlike me as with my other pregnancies I chose a name I loved and stuck with it when they were born.

When he was born we went through our shortlist and none of them seemed right so I looked at an older list and saw Rocco and DH loved it, I looked at him and it did suit him (still does really)

The reason I’m unsure is one of my favourites when I was pregnant was Bruno. He really looks like a Bruno to me, he’s so chunky and handsome and I’m starting to regret not calling him that.

DH isn’t interested in changing his name and all the kids love the name Rocco and he is “baby rocco” to the little ones and I think it would confuse them.

Maybe I’ve just had too much time to think about it?

Could Bruno or Rocco be a middle name?

ILoveShula · 14/09/2021 12:19

I prefer Bruno.

CyanideInTheFishPaste · 14/09/2021 12:24

Bruno is so much nicer. Try and get DH on board. Doesn't matter what your other kids think.

IglesiasPiggle · 14/09/2021 12:30

Rocco is 100x nicer. It sounds more dashing too.

diamondintheflesh · 14/09/2021 12:55

Love Bruno 🥰

BeKindBeYou · 14/09/2021 18:24

They are both great names to be fair but I think 7 weeks in is just a little too late to change his name!

Register as soon as you can and you’ll know it be harder to change his name and I think you’ll start to love Rocco!

WaitinginVain · 14/09/2021 18:46

As PP said they are both great names but I wouldn't be changing after 7 weeks, especially if no-one else is keen.

Personally slightly prefer Rocco.

NigellaSeed · 14/09/2021 18:49

You made not have registered it but he's already been named. But you could add Bruno as the middle name. Some people use their middle name so you never know.

I think Rocco is a great name.

xprincessxjanetx · 14/09/2021 19:15

I think Rocco is a lovely name

diamondintheflesh · 14/09/2021 20:47

He's only 7 weeks, once it's changed people won't remember "he used to be Rocco". My cousin renamed her son after a good few weeks and I couldn't even tell you what the original name was because he is totally a Freddie now! Hope that helps, go with what's right for you xx

DramaAlpaca · 14/09/2021 21:57

Rocco is so much nicer.

CatsArePeople · 14/09/2021 22:03

Rocco. Bruno was forever spoiled by that silly film.

nzeire · 14/09/2021 22:30

Rocco is a fab name!!!

welshweasel · 14/09/2021 22:32

Bruno will always conjure up pictures of a fat lad shovelling chocolate cake into his gob

MurielSpriggs · 14/09/2021 22:42

I'd only add that I don't think the middle-name idea is a good plan B in the case. Rocco Bruno or Bruno Rocco doesn't really work. Not a good idea to have both names ending in O.

TatianaBis · 14/09/2021 22:50

Much prefer Bruno. Rocco is very Essex.

Balonzette · 15/09/2021 00:36

Bruno is fabulous! It's cool and sounds sort of modern but is also so old and a saint's name so has a great foundation.

Rocco is a bit of a celeb name.

If I met a Bruno I'd love it.

Bruno 100%!!

Babydust13 · 15/09/2021 02:45

Rocco is 100% better than Bruno

Congratulations

Elisemum · 15/09/2021 07:58

I think 7 weeks is crazy to change baby’s name especially when he has siblings that are used to his name! Unless you actually hate the name… and you seem to perfectly like his name. Don’t change it, register him and that’s it :)

Foxglovesandlilacs86 · 15/09/2021 08:49

Thanks everyone.

I’m going to keep Rocco. I do love the name, I think I was overthinking it because he is definitely my last baby (number 8!) and know I won’t get the chance to choose a name again.

DH also reminded me the reason I went off Bruno was because one of our customers who we know quite well bought a German Shepard puppy in who’s name was Bruno and it just felt weird to call him that!

I’ve got a rubbish memory Blush

Are you thinking of Bruce? As in Bruce Bog-Trotter. I can't think of a Bruno who eats chocolate cake.
IglesiasPiggle · 15/09/2021 10:28

That was definitely Bruce but Bruno in The Witches was also a bit of a glutton.

welshweasel · 15/09/2021 21:33

@Scrubadub ha ha yes I was. Getting my Roald dahl all confused!

Sunriseboy · 17/09/2021 11:28

You're right you have too much time 'thinking'.

You are not the only one in the family.
There is your husband, and the other children.
They are going thru a lot of crap with covid crap and doing this to them only creates more mental confusion.
Show some respect to them, besides your own vainity.
