Anyone heard of anyone called this name? The stress is on the second syllable - BoDAN. Thoughts?

Boden

Nuuktown · 13/09/2021 09:13

I don’t know any and I really don’t like the name at all!
Reading it, I’d pronounce it like Boden the shop

SirChenjins · 13/09/2021 09:16

It sounds like you really like Boden. It's an unusual name, if that's important to you.

PeskyRooks · 13/09/2021 09:24

Everyone will just think it's Boden. And pronounced Bo-Dan sounds like a weird hyphenated name.

louisvillelou · 13/09/2021 09:35

😂 I’m glad the opinions so far are the same as mine - my small boy (almost 2) has decided that he can’t say his perfectly boring Biblical name and has started calling himself "Bodan" instead 🙈 I hate it! I don’t mind him choosing his own name but I do wish it were something I actually liked!

I thought you were asking if Boden did clothes for boys.

I wouldn't as I think everyone will make the same connection.

QuillBill · 13/09/2021 09:52

ConfusedYou don't have to go along with it! One year olds don't get to tell you what their name is. Children often do this. They want to be called Bing or Thomas. It's just pretending.

GoodnightGrandma · 13/09/2021 09:53

I also thought Boden. Spellcheck changed it to Biden !

I know I don’t, but it's quite a cute trait! It's a pretty awful name though 😵‍💫

You must remind him of this regularly throughout his teenage years.
Colinthecaterpillar35 · 13/09/2021 09:55

I was actually in a shop on Saturday where a Dad was talking to his toddler and calling him Bodan. My first thought at the time was 'oh they've called him after the clothing brand!'

SoupDragon · 13/09/2021 09:56

I've just remembered that DD tried to change her name to Aladdina when she was small.

ThreeProngedPowerpoint · 13/09/2021 10:00

Spoken it will sound a lot like Bogan which if you travel to Australia would not be a great name to have, it has connotations of being dumb, loutish behaviour, lower class type thing.

GoodnightGrandma · 13/09/2021 10:01

What about Bodie ?

MargaretBall · 13/09/2021 10:11

Bogdan or bohdan is an old name popular in Eastern Europe

SirChenjins · 13/09/2021 10:13

Bogdan isn’t pronounced BoDAN though

Kimblebee19 · 13/09/2021 15:33

My 2yo is Sharkdog today. In no rush to update the birth certificate.

KirstenBlest · 13/09/2021 16:26

record him saying it for posterity

Is he a Daniel or is his name something quite different like Reuben or Jacob or something?

TheWayTheLightFalls · 13/09/2021 16:31

I actually know a little Bodin. Not a fan.

4yo DD is adamant that she is called Elsa and I’m called Anna. She’s also named her impending siblings Snuffle and Pancake. Like a PP I think I’ll hold off informing the registry office.

CatsArePeople · 13/09/2021 16:34

i thought it was a typo. Not BOGDAN? (slavic name)

Sagaz · 13/09/2021 16:36

No, that's awful. What about Baden (as in, Baden Powell)
Bodan sounds odd.
