So my husband and I are drawing up a shortlist of girls names for our baby. What do you think of:

Aila (Pronounced Ail-A. I'm Scottish)
Evie
Emily
Sofia (Spelt with an F as we have Swedish family)
Ottilie (nn Tilly?)

Our surname only has one syllable.

Middle name will likely be Catherine.

Thanks!

All are lovely except Ottillie - reminds me of otter, sorry

Emily and Sofia go better with Catherine. I like both and have a Sofia of my own Grin

@Myusernameisnotmyusernameno
I agree, really like the rhythm of these two names with Catherine then a one-syllable family name Smile

MamaFirst · 12/09/2021 17:38

I think Otillie is beautiful and individual but not in a weird, made up name kind of way.

Evie, Emily and Sofia are all lovely too, but common.

Peachbubble · 12/09/2021 19:09

I like Emily, Sofia and Ottilie.

Love Aila and Sofia Grin two of my favourite girls names.

ContadoraExplorer · 12/09/2021 19:46

Aila has just made my list (thanks to this thread) so my vote goes for that.

ladygindiva · 12/09/2021 19:57

Aila Catherine is beautiful

Onlinedilema · 12/09/2021 20:00

Sofia Catherine sounds best.

TheRabbitStoleMyHat · 12/09/2021 20:01

Evie is just so massively popular it feels like every other girl is an Evie. She’ll just be one of about 6 in the class.

I like Aila or Sofia.

WaitinginVain · 12/09/2021 20:13

I've never heard of Aila but it's really lovely and would choose that.

Sofia is also nice but it's very popular. Don't like the other names.

Either of these would go well with Catherine.

StevieNix · 12/09/2021 20:23

All of them are lovely apart from Otillie, not sure why but I really dislike that name!
Aila Catherine sounds lovely together

Chunkymenrock · 12/09/2021 20:41

Aila sounds like ailer so not a nice connection. Emily is extremely dull and boring, Ottilie is ok although it sounds like otterly and the others are done to death. Sorry to be negative!

Ella267 · 12/09/2021 21:11

Thanks all!

Aila was my first choice but as my pregnancy has gone on I started thinking about other names. My husband hates Ottilie so that's probably off the list! (I still love it though).

Think we'll wait and see what the baby suits.

We're thinking Jasper for a boy (that's maybe another thread!)
