Dated or underused classic?

Susannah
Love it but I have a name of my mums generation and have always found it dated and frumpy. Is this in the same category for babies now? Love nicknames Suzy, Zuzu, Zanna etc feel like Sue is due a comeback too but it may just be me Grin

Underused classic for me. Susan and Suzanne feel dated to me, but not Susannah. I prefer the Susanna spelling.

LongDissidence · 10/09/2021 13:43

Love it. Definitely underused, and I like the many options it gives. Not totally convinced on sue yet (!), but I'd use it for the other great options. Do it!

MinesAMassiveSalad · 10/09/2021 13:44

I like it very much.

LongDissidence · 10/09/2021 13:44

Agree with pp, I'd drop the h at the end. But it's not a big deal :)

idontlikealdi · 10/09/2021 13:45

I really like it, would not want it shortened to Sue or Suzy though

StevieNix · 10/09/2021 13:49

I prefer Susan, reminds me of the chronicles of Narnia, retro cute vibe. Susannah just reminds me of 80’s mums names, sue, Nicola, Wendy, Jane etc

starfishmummy · 10/09/2021 14:09

Susanna/susannah are lovely. I'd definitely avoid Susanne/Suzanne because they'll then get the "is that Suzanne or Susan" question all the time".

Blubells · 10/09/2021 14:09

I like it.

Prefer it without the H.

IDontLikeMondays88 · 10/09/2021 14:11

Love it and I like the spelling with the H at the end

ZenNudist · 10/09/2021 14:12

Dated sorry.

SchooldilemmasY1 · 10/09/2021 14:13

Love it. Underused classic.

Boobieboobieboobie · 10/09/2021 14:13

Love Suzy, also Suki

Anotherdayanotherdollar · 10/09/2021 14:48

Susannah is really pretty imo

LittleGwyneth · 10/09/2021 15:45

I like it, but I would think about nicknames, as Sue does feel a bit dated. Zanna? Sooze? Annie?

NormaSwilly · 10/09/2021 15:47

My dd is Susannah
Very underused and very pretty.

WhyOhWhyOhWhyyyy · 10/09/2021 15:49

Sue sounds dated but Susannah/Suzie less so

Seesawmummadaw · 10/09/2021 15:49

Beautiful

GoodnightGrandma · 10/09/2021 15:51

I like Suzie.

Remoteso · 10/09/2021 15:52

I have a Susannah Smile

IamnotwhouthinkIam · 10/09/2021 15:56

Not sure that Sue or Susan is ready for a comeback yet, pretty though it is - Susannah though is lovely and an underused classic (it was never popular enough to date imo). NN's more likely to be Suki, Suze, Annie or even Sansa! than Sue/Susie these days I think. Zuzu and Zanna are cute too.

Only issue as pp mention is the Susannah vs Susanna thing, as they are used almost equally- so she will have to spell her name/get used to it being misspelt, but this might not be a big deal.

Westfacing · 10/09/2021 16:03

Susannah is lovely - it's classic and the H is the traditional spelling I'd say.

ILoveShula · 10/09/2021 16:03

Susie is better than Suzy as a nn. Suzy is a bit 1970s

I like Susan, but most of the Sues I know aren't very nice.

Toddlerteaplease · 10/09/2021 16:05

@starfishmummy

Susanna/susannah are lovely. I'd definitely avoid Susanne/Suzanne because they'll then get the "is that Suzanne or Susan" question all the time".
My mum hates being called Susan!
Pemba · 10/09/2021 16:06

Absolutely beautiful name, an underused classic. Would have used this if I had had a second daughter. Short form doesn't have to be Sue - Susie, Sukie, Zanna are all possibilities.

Not sure if I prefer the Susanna or Susannah spelling really, they both look nice written down. I suppose Susanna is more international, as I think they use this version in Italy? - could be wrong though. I'm not so keen on the spelling Suzanna/Suzannah though, with the 'z' in the middle. Obviously, it is the same name and sounds the same, just doesn't look so elegant written down IMO.

Readerimarried · 10/09/2021 16:06

Underused classic imo.
