Dated or underused classic?

Susannah
Love it but I have a name of my mums generation and have always found it dated and frumpy. Is this in the same category for babies now? Love nicknames Suzy, Zuzu, Zanna etc feel like Sue is due a comeback too but it may just be me Grin

I like it, but as a pp said, I can think of several in the younger years of DS’s school, some Polish or Eastern European variants, so may not be that rare, depending on ethnic mix where you are.

LiveSimply · 11/09/2021 08:41

I love it! So beatuful! I think I prefer it without the H though.

FeedMeSantiago · 11/09/2021 13:35

I know a baby Susie (just Susie).

Only ever known one Susanna, she's in her early 30s. I know a Shoshana too, also early 30s - I think that's the Hebrew version.

I like Susanna/h, well known but underused.

LowlandLucky · 11/09/2021 16:11

Such a lovely name.

baceBen · 11/09/2021 16:13

I like it! So many possible nicknames too!

Balonzette · 11/09/2021 16:44

I don't know! I've been wondering this too. I THINK underused classic. Susie and Suki are super cute nicknames too. Could also go with Annie/Anna. It's actually a great name, the more I think about it. Biblical, pretty, feminine but not frilly, great nicknames choices. Why aren't there more Susannahs?

Notgotanyidea · 11/09/2021 17:02

I would see it as a Regency era name along with Caroline and Judith.

Dancingonmoonlight · 11/09/2021 17:06

I like it with the h spelling but it is dated. The other problem is it’s nn of Sue/Susan - both of which are frumpy.

Adventing · 11/09/2021 17:41

Underused classic I think

TracyBeakerSoYeah · 11/09/2021 17:44

Susannah/Suzannah are gorgeous names.

HumphreyCobblers · 11/09/2021 17:45

I absolutely love it

autumngold6 · 11/09/2021 18:07

I have a Susannah (aged 30) - there were no others by that name all through school, and she has always liked her name. Name statistics for her birth year show it was very rarely used. I named her after my great grandmother.

pattyparsnip · 11/09/2021 18:52

Lovely name I wanted to call my daughter it but my dh wasn't keen .

KeflavikAirport · 11/09/2021 19:26

Lovely. Very classy.

Buttons294749 · 11/09/2021 20:11

I'm in my 30s and have LOADS of school friend Susies, I like it!

Buttons294749 · 11/09/2021 20:12

@autumngold6 interesting your DD and I are similar ages but I have loads of friends called Susie, all depends on the location I guess!

ChilliChaos · 11/09/2021 20:17

I really like it. There are sisters in DS school called Susannah and Jacqueline- Susie and Jackie. They stand out against everyone else in the school.

autumngold6 · 11/09/2021 21:01

Buttons294749, it must be down to location - we have never met another Susannah! Are all the Susies you know short for Susannah?

KirstenBlest · 11/09/2021 21:06

I know lots of Sues and Suzys, but only one Susie. I only know one adult Susanna but lots of Susan and Suzannes.

KirstenBlest · 11/09/2021 21:06

Two of the Suzys are Suzan (pron. Suzanne)

Dancingonmoonlight · 12/09/2021 00:50

I know lots of Sues and Suzys, but only one Susie

Is Suzy pronounced differently to Susie? Otherwise when you meet someone called Suzy/Susie, do you ask them to spell it?

lemoncrisp · 12/09/2021 08:16

Love it! Under used classic.

Chunkymenrock · 12/09/2021 08:19

I like it but dislike it ending with the 'h'. End with the 'a'.

PattyPan · 12/09/2021 11:03

Dated for me, sorry. No form of Sue- name is ready for a comeback IMO.

Disfordarkchocolate · 12/09/2021 11:40

I think it's lovely. I like Sally too.
