Frankie?

Considering for DS. What do you think of the name? We have a two syllable surname beginning with a hard 'C' so it seems to have a ring to it altogether.

Its a good strong name but I don't like it personally. That's neither here nor there though. If you like it go for it.

DramaAlpaca · 09/09/2021 00:05

Obviously it's up to you, but I dislike it. I don't find it strong, it's cutesy and that's not good imo.

I like Francis though, but only for a middle name as I don't like any of the diminutives.

Kollamoolitumarellipawkyrollo · 09/09/2021 00:06

I only know one who is female so I immediately assumed DD not DS. Not keen for either.

fuckitbucket16 · 09/09/2021 00:07

Love Frankie. That’s what my future imaginary non existent baby will be called. Grin

elfran · 09/09/2021 00:08

I also prefer Francis but don't dislike Frankie. Does it bother you that's it's considered unisex these days? A friend of mine just had a girl Frankie.

YerAWizardHarry · 09/09/2021 01:16

Frankie is very much a female name in my neck of the woods now, something to consider

Happenchance · 09/09/2021 01:22

I like Frankie but I don't know if I would use it with a surname that begins with a hard C.

PlainJane1000 · 09/09/2021 04:21

I have a hard C surname too and trying to say Frankie with it seems a bit clunky. Easier than Frank though.
I was expecting this post to be about a DD rather than a DS when I saw Frankie though.

Orphlids · 09/09/2021 06:36

Every Frankie I’ve ever known has been particularly horrible, and dreaded by their teachers, so it’s not a name with good associations for me. But I admit I do quite like the sound of it. Much prefer Francis though.

Elisemum · 09/09/2021 06:57

Frankie is a girls name where I live. Wouldn’t think of a boy called Frankie, but each to their own

Kanaloa · 09/09/2021 06:59

I’ve know little boys named Frankie, seemed popular a couple of years ago when Freddie was popular too. It’s fine, but my favourite but not a bad name at all.

I would probably go with Francis or Franklin for the full name personally, but that’s just because I dislike names like Frankie/Charlie/Jamie etc as a full name, I prefer to have a more formal/traditional first name.

diamondintheflesh · 09/09/2021 09:04

Yeah, I didn't think of how popular it was for girls rn

I know a couple of little girls called Frankie but I like it for a boy too. I'd put Francis on the birth cert, or even just Frank and call him Frankie day to day.

There's a sweet film called Dear Frankie about a boy with this name,

ilovemykids5 · 09/09/2021 10:59

Prefer Frankie as a girl's name.

Dandy0911 · 09/09/2021 12:00

I love it for a boy! 💙

Helpmetopickone · 09/09/2021 13:18

I prefer Frankie for a girl

Blubells · 09/09/2021 14:13

Frankie is cute for a little girl. Short for Francesca

FawnDrench · 09/09/2021 19:04

Girl's name - I know 3.

RosemaryRosemary · 09/09/2021 20:25

I only know female Frankies

mswales · 27/09/2021 21:49

I know two male grown-up Frankies, one female grown-up and one little girl Frankie and my own son is called Frankie (full name Francis) and I love it! I wanted a unisex name. We've met a couple of other boys and girls called Frankie during his childhood so far but it's unusual. People always say they love the name but maybe that's just something people say!

MissMatty2hats · 27/09/2021 22:05

I love it. My eldest is called Frankie, but he’s Francis on his birth certificate. When he was little he was always Frankie, but now he’s in his twenties he tends to get called Frank more. He was named after my grandad and I think it’s a lovely strong name.
