Love this name and always thought of using it as a middle name, however now I'm starting to think it could work as a first name.

Is it too frilly/princessy? I would like something strong but pretty. Not necessarily thinking if the name is gorgeous but also if it would work in real life and schools etc. Does it stand out too much?

One person I mentioned the name said "Orally?!?!" Which made me a bit scared too.

I have loved the name Aurelia since hearing it on Love Actually as a child. I used to want it to be my own name.

When we came to discussing names before we knew DS would be a DS, I repeatedly mentioned it and was repeatedly shot down... So I say go for it OP! Do it for both of us!

I just hear "Oh, really? A..."

Well that's a pronunciation I've never heard before! I think my daughter would actually really like that, she's such a funny soul. Her name is Aurèlia with a hard E, but she also gets called Aurélia (with an AY sound), and occasionally Aureeelia (when people have only read her name and not heard it aloud). Toddlers sometimes call her Australia, which she also thinks is very funny. I might call her "oh really, A?" from now on 😂

@alphabeticalabc

Reminds me of areola. It's a very nipple-like name.
sorry to say this was my first though too, which is a shame as it is a nice name. second thought was about the winter lights (though that is aurora). Apparently I pronounce it wrong according to a pp: Aw-real-ia.

Oh no, areola would have never occurred to me :/

What do you think are good nicknames for Aurelia? Auri? Lia? Ray?
