Hello, looking for advice on names please. We have a Ruby already and are expecting a second girl next year- we like Rose or Rosa, but is that too similar to Ruby? Thanks 😊

I think they are, really, but they are very nice names. They sound quite different. It’s just the first letter that’s the same. But you’d have a bit of a red theme going, which is maybe a bit twee. It’s not a nonstarter, though.

hmm, I do think they are too similar I am just sitting here going Ruby, Rosa, Ruby, Rosa, and I think it is too samey.

probably slightly better with Rose, as 2 syllable v. 1 syllable.

They are lovely names but I always refrain from having two children same gender with same initial as can make it difficult with post etc such as Miss R (surname)

Maybe have Rosa as a middle name?

Or a longer name like Primrose etc where Rose could be a nickname? X

I love Rosa and I think it works with Ruby why wouldn't it

DramaAlpaca · 06/09/2021 00:00

I think they are lovely together. I'd pick Rose to go with Ruby, I think.

milkytwilight · 06/09/2021 00:06

I prefer Rosa but only because Ruby Rose is an actress and you'd have both her first and second name for children.

Happenchance · 06/09/2021 00:28

Rosie and Ruby are similar and Rosie could be used as a nickname for both Rose and Rosa.

One of my criteria for dcs 2 and 3 was to give them their own initial, so I'd rule both out on those grounds.

Thanks everyone 😊 name choosing is so hard second time round isn't it! I love the names but feel unsure so good points raised.x
