Sibling for Anna

I really liked Emma or Anna when pregnant with my DD. Had a slight preference for Emma but DH wasn’t keen so we choose Anna.

I am now pregnant with baby number 2 and have been discussing names.

My favourite girls name is Sophie whereas my DH really likes Olivia. I’m not keen on Olivia at all so DH wants us to consider other names. I’m maybe being a little unreasonable but feel that he already got his preference first time round so could he not do the same if we have a girl? What do you guys think of Sophie alongside Anna?

I also like Aaron (pronounced Arran) if we have a boy. DH likes this as well but he thinks it may be too similar to Anna. Would it be awful given both names start with A? If so then I’d be happy for suggestions as we are both struggling with boys names. Other names I thought of were Ryan, Liam, James. DH doesn’t like any of them but says he can’t think of any other suggestions at the moment. Think we are both stuck on Aaron but I now feel a bit worried that they are too similar?

James for a boy. It's the best name ever.

Go with your choice if he chose the first time.

Anna (middle name) & Sophie Olivia sounds lovely xx

Sophie goes well alongside Anna.
But I don’t think Aaron is good. It’s a different style of name and doesn’t go. I also only know Aaron pronounced as Air-un. James is much better.

Happenchance · 06/09/2021 00:39

Could Sophia be a compromise?

I think Aaron is too similar to Anna.

I was going to say Sophia too.

That’s what I was hoping DH would say @AlvinSimonTheo. Unfortunately he hasn’t been quite as easy to convince 😀!

Thank you for all the suggestions @MrsGilly1. I also like Charlotte and Emily. Can’t use the former as it’s my god daughters name and DH has completely vetoed Emily! I also suggested Matthew for a boy but again DH isn’t keen. Plenty of other suggestions you have made though so will have a think and flag any potentials to DH!

@daisypond. Yes I love Sophie and can’t seem to find anything that I love as much. A few names I like but that’s about it. I’m not too fussed on the style of names. It’s more whether they sound too similar that concerns me which a few PP have mentioned that it does 😬

@Happenchance @BubbleCoffee. I prefer Sophie over Sophia to be honest. Although I do like Luke as @Happenchance suggested!

@Ricekrispie22. I did think of Katie but seems to remind me of Katie Price every time I hear it! I really like Erin though 😀

Anna and Sophie is lovely. Also Anna and Aaron - I know an Anna and Aaron twin pair! What about Adam? Anna and Adam is lovely too.

2ndtimemummy37 · 06/09/2021 13:29

Haha that would be too funny @StrawberrySanta. I like Rebecca but it will likely be shortened to Becca/Bex which I’m not so keen on. I’m so struggling with boys names as there are very few that I actually like never mind get DH on board lol

I also think both Sophie and James work really well.

Anna and James are perfect together.

As for girl names to go with Anna, Sophie, Elizabeth, Julia, Juliet, Catherine/Katherine/Katharine, and Eleanor work beautifully with the sprightly, classic Anna.
