The main difference between Glasgow and Paisley though is that one is a City and one is a town. Paisley doesn't benefit from the attractions and resources, shopping, tourism etc that its Glasgow neighbour does.
There may be some affluent areas but chances are that people will jump in their cars and spend their money elsewhere.
Paisley people will travel to Glasgow for leisure, entertainment, shopping etc but it's very unlikely to happen in reverse sadly. Too close to Braehead and Glasgow for it to be a thriving stand alone.
Oh I agree with all you have said. Braehead comes under the same Local Authority as Paisley and Im at the age where I remember how great Paisley was for shopping and the Braehead opening day, it was the demise of Paisley. I went from spending my money in internacional and Our Price to Jane Norman in Braehead. The council encouraged people to go to BHead, and that’s what they done.
The current party of the local authority will not hear you say a bad word against Paisley, it’s all positive thinking and Spiegeltents. Rather than get to the grass roots of the communities and stop the cycle of deprivation that they allowed to take hold!! Renfrewshire’s shame, two schools less than 2 miles apart, one is top 5 in Scotland the other in Scotlands bottom 5 and it’s been like that for decades. Yet RC have the cheek to say they’re closing the attainment gap!
But, I do know that one wrong turn in Glasgow and it’s a dodgy place
and Paisley has better parking 😂
