My friend is changing their name and is looking for a new surname. They like the idea of Nicks , Gallagher or Harrison after their idols . Do u think they should pick a celebrity surname or find a different one ConfusedHmm

They can call themselves whatever the hell they want. It's nobody else's business.

You don't sound like a very supportive friend tbh

I just want to hear other people's thoughts and opinions and I'm a very supportive friend I love their surname ideas. HaloFlowers

There are lots of people with those surnames, not just famous people

Very true . I just don't want people to get the wrong impression of my friend as they've trialed a surname and people have been negative calling them an obsessive fan .

I would only get the wrong impression of your friend if they picked a surname of something with an awful association like Hitler.

I think you should mind your own business.

They are all pretty common surnames, I don't think they immediately shout 'celebrity name' like Minogue, scherzinger or Styles would. And even so, it doesn't really make much difference.

The only one I like in Nicks because its short. Assuming they don't have a theft habit, I would go for that.
Gallagher is awful imo
And Harrison is boring.

Assuming they are an adult, it’s up to them 🤷‍♀️

I’ve never liked my surname but I couldn’t change it (even to my DH’s name) because I consider it very much a part of my identity. If for whatever reason one was determined to get rid of an old surname, a celebrity surname makes as much sense as any I guess.
