Honest opinion on name Maeva? I love this name and keep coming back to it , would love your honest opinions please as it’s nearing my due date in a few weeks and baby g is nameless up to now x tia

I love it. I also like Maeve. Not what you are asking I know but both are lovely names to me. 🌸

I've never come across it before. Familiar with Maeve alright but not this. What's its origin?

I prefer Maeve, but Maeva is quite pretty too.

I know a French girl called Mäeva (spelt with the accent) and I love it. Prefer it to Maeve although both are nice and would consider it for my next.

I think French names often lose a lot of their charm when said in an accent that isn't French.

Yes pronounced May-va
It’s French, I prefer it to Maeve, think it has a bit more substance to it.
Some people think it’s odd and can’t pronounce it etc , but tbh it’s only similar to ‘Ava’

Haha! This is where I have heard it too. I also like the name. Maeva on MIC is a strong person who knows her own mind too so there are worse people to be linked with

My first impression was that it looks a bit made up, or a misspelling of Maeve. But I do like it, it sounds pretty.

Not keen but its seems a perfectly acceptable name.

I think because Maeve is rapidly rising in popularity at the moment and that fact that Eva, Ava and May (as a middle) are so popular now too, some people may think Maeva looks invented or trendy if that matters. BUT it has a really lovely sound imo, so if that doesn't bother you, I say go for it!

I would say of the two Maeve has more substance as there seems to be more history behind it and Queen Maeve is such a massive figure in Irish mythology, but if you prefer a longer name I can see why the sound of Maeva might appeal more.

Lovely name, but I wouldn’t know how to pronounce it. Chances are also that your daughter will have her name misspelled more often than not. Not a problem as such, but might be worth thinking about (my name is Kathrin and I started making a list of the various misspellings of my name years ago - and the rare occasions when people spell it right )

French Maeva isn't pronounced May-va but Mah-ay-va. 3 syllables, its lovely but I imagine a childhood of everyone calling her Mayva, and the poor girl getting annoyed.

It's like Camille. Sounds so lovely when a French person says it, Cah-mee, and nice but not quite so lovely when an English person pronounces it cameel.

Made up name 🙄 Maeve/ Maidbh is the correct version and lovely
