Baby boy ongoing name dilemma

Hi (again!) my wife and I are still struggling to choose a name for our son coming this week.

We like Arthur but would use Artie as like the ending in e sound, I however can’t get past the thought of artie farty.

She likes Rafferty, I’m not so sure. Like Kit but don’t think brave enough to use it as not 100% on it.

We want something traditionalish, had some good suggestions on here before but nothing we have fallen for as much as Arthur (hugely popular I know)

Sorry this is an emotional week so excuse the ramblings! Smile

Thanks all

I don't like Artie as it's too cutesy for me!

Love Rafferty and Kit though!

And along the same lines as Arthur-

Seth
Henry
Hugo
Ezra
Laurence (Laurie)
Frederick (Freddie)
Nathaniel (Nate)
Benedict (Ben)

HonorHiding · 23/08/2021 12:14

Barnaby/Barney?

Toby?

OnlyFlans · 23/08/2021 12:15

Oh and Vincent (vinnie) - love that name!

Sunshinegirl82 · 23/08/2021 12:16

I have a Frederick (Freddie) and DS3 would be Albert (Bertie) if we ever had another boy.

Vendeevola · 23/08/2021 12:16

Thanks for the suggestions, I think maybe I’m overthinking it! We’re also a same sex couple and I’m aware I don’t want to give him a difficult name as in some circles he will already stand out. Like I said I’m overthinking I know!

How about Christopher or Christian, NN Kit?

Vendeevola · 23/08/2021 14:27

Thanks all, sorry should have said there’s a family member christoper so keen to avoid that, if it was kit that would be the name so not sure if it’s too short on its own.

Thanks all

Best of luck for the arrival this week! I posted on your last thread, maybe say which ones you liked most from there as there were lots of suggestions and you'll just get the same ones again Grin

Also, you don't have to give the baby a name when he arrives, you can wait and see what he "looks like". Don't put yourselves under more pressure than you already are.

mobear · 23/08/2021 16:49

We considered Kit and Rafe but ended up going for Edward (Ted). We didn't register him until the day before the deadline as we couldn't decide. Good luck!

I have a teen relative called Arthur, known as Artie or Art. He's very cool and I've never heard anyone call him Artie farty, (if they have, it hasn't affected him, he loves his name). Go with your favourite.

MrsBertBibby · 23/08/2021 23:32

Robert
Conrad
Torin.

I love Arthur, one teen I know is known as Art. Really don’t think you need to worry c Artie.

If you can’t use Christopher, what about Kester (Scottish form of Christopher) with Kit as NN? Agree Kit is too diminutive to be a full name.
