Is my girls name choice really as bad as people are making out!?

I’m starting to get paranoid. Me and dh are due a baby girl early next year and have decided on the name Theodora. It’s a name we both love and feel suits our family.
We like that it’s the name of a character in The Haunting of Hill House. We also have a Lydia after the character in beetlejuice Grin.

However when I’ve been asked about names all but two people have pulled faces and one family member said it was a ridiculous name.
I don’t really understand what’s ridiculous about it so thought I’d ask here. Is it really that bad?

Mo do like the name Thea

There might well be a Thea or even two in her class at school. It's really in at the moment. It's probably just people not being aware of the latest trends. I remember only 10 years ago Noah raised a few eyebrows and look at it now!

It’s not really my style, but it’s definitely not “ridiculous”. It will age well, and it goes with your other daughter’s name. I love Thea as a nickname!

It's nice!

I opened this post fully expecting something out there!

I like it. I met a Theodora, nn Thea, and the name really suited her.

Really like it - great nicknames, Dora is lovely for a little girl and Theo/Thea for a woman. Strong, slightly unusual but not ridiculous.

Ignore the naysayers, it's a beautiful name.
