Middle names

We have the first name picked, however we’re stuck on a middle name.

Her first will be Rose, however we are stuck between Rose Irene and Rose Josephine. Josephine is a family name same with Irene.

I feel Irene looks better on paper but Josephine sounds better, despite the start of Rose and Josephine being near identical.

Rose Irene (if your surname doesn't start with an M). I don't think Josephine goes well with Rose.

I agree with Happenchance that it doesn't go so well together but Josephine's a beautiful name and just don't like Irene at all - sounds really old fashioned but not in a good way.

I prefer Rose Irene. Purely because Irene is prettier than Josephine, imo. I know others will disagree.

As you say, with Rose Josephine, the reputation of that rhyming "ose" sound in the first two syllables makes it sound a bit odd.

Could she have two middles? Rose Irene Josephine?

One of my DDs has 2 middle names. I have 3 middle names, one a compromise between my parents plus both my grandmothers names including Josephine.

Actually I really like Irene. I'd use it as first name if it was me !
