Esther

RichPetunia · 18/08/2021 22:31

Esther. Winter’s ridiculous.

RoseMartha · 18/08/2021 22:32

Esther

Scarby9 · 18/08/2021 22:33

Will she be born in Winter?

KimDeals · 18/08/2021 22:34

I feel mean saying this but you asked!

Imogen - yes
Of all the granny names, I do not like Esther, no.
Winter - why!!!

Mpsister · 18/08/2021 22:34

Esther or Imogen. Winter is just ridiculous

hettysfeather · 18/08/2021 22:36

Imogen

MaggieFS · 18/08/2021 22:37

Imogen. Beautiful name. I would have loved to have called my DD Imogen but it DH associated it with a former school friend.

NotWanting · 18/08/2021 22:37

What are your other girls called ?

fortifiedwithtea · 18/08/2021 22:38

Why is Winter ridiculous? When Spring or Summer are acceptable.

Personally I like Winter , gives me Game of Throne vibes. Imogen and Ester are lovely too.

user1493494961 · 18/08/2021 22:38

Imogen is lovely, not keen on Esther and Winter is awful.

SirVixofVixHall · 18/08/2021 22:38

Esther.
I also like Imogen.
Winter is a very odd choice given you like the other two !

giggly · 18/08/2021 22:38

Summer and Autumn I can cope with but Winter, really? Trying to hard there to be different.
I quite like Esther.

Orangestarfish · 18/08/2021 22:45

@RichPetunia

Esther. Winter’s ridiculous.
I think that's a lot of people's initial reaction, including mine, but I think that winter is the most beautiful season, and when I really think about it, I don't see how it's any more ridiculous than calling your child Summer, Autumn, April, May, June, Robin, River, Wren, Willow etc. We're just more accustomed to those names I think. It's an interesting one and I really do appreciate the comment Smile

I like Winter the best. I like it a lot.

Don't really like Imogen. Esther is quite nice.

manhattenrain · 18/08/2021 22:50

Esther and Winter! Winter is becoming quite popular in Australia.

DramaAlpaca · 18/08/2021 22:52

Imogen would be my choice.

Esther is OK.

A big no to Winter.

AntiHop · 18/08/2021 22:52

Definitely not Winter. Imogen is dated. Esther is beautiful (nn Essie or Estie).

mummabubs · 18/08/2021 22:53

Have to say I like all of them, but Winter is my favourite! (My daughter's middle name is one that you've mentioned in your list OP and my son's name is far more out there than those examples you've given so I was always going to be thay way inclined!) I actually had Winter on my list of names, I think it's beautiful. My son has two male friends in his nursery group called River and Ocean so I think these sorts of names are starting to become more commonplace. At the end of the day I'd go with whichever name you like best, someone on MN will always love it and someone will hate it.

RickOShay · 18/08/2021 22:56

I love Winter. It’s by far my favourite of your choices.

DukeOfEarlGrey · 18/08/2021 22:59

I’ve never thought of winter as a name but I read your title and my reaction was ‘oooh... winter!’ I thrill it’s a great idea and unusual, but not bonkers.

I like Imogen a lot but not Esther.

YouWereGr8InLittleMenstruators · 18/08/2021 22:59

Winter is lovely as long as you don't live somewhere where it will be pronounced Wintah in which case it will sound like a cleaning product.
All three are good names.

Blamelesscars · 18/08/2021 23:00

Imogen but I’m biased!

I think they’re all lovely names. Esther is a bit dated I think (my Great aunts name) but I do think it’s lovely.

Lots of winter or wynter’s around here both for boys and girls. I wouldn’t chose it personally but I do think it’s a very pretty name

KimDeals · 18/08/2021 23:00

Winter

Win-turrrr
Win-turrr

It sounds like a dogs name you’d call in the park.

Orangestarfish · 18/08/2021 23:02

@KimDeals

I feel mean saying this but you asked!

Imogen - yes
Of all the granny names, I do not like Esther, no.
Winter - why!!!

Not at all - I appreciate people's opinions!

Esther - I reckon it's due a comeback. Beautiful meaning - 'Star', and to me it feels strong, unlike a lot of the more vintage / 'granny' names currently popular e.g. Elsie, Millie, Daisy, Nancy, Mabel etc.

Winter - Why not? 😊 Beautiful season - snow, cosy nights in front of the fire, mulled wine, Christmas, woolly jumpers...
