What do people prefer out of

Sonny
Joel
Isaac

Why are boys names so hard?!

Sonny! Or Isaac but I think it's quite popular. Not Joel, I don't really get how you're meant to say it Grin

DramaAlpaca · 10/08/2021 14:43

Joel, by far.

I have an irrational dislike of Isaac and Sonny isn't a name, it's a generic term for a small boy.

valleyplaza · 10/08/2021 14:45

Joel

DotDotDotDotDot · 10/08/2021 14:49

Isaac is my favourite from your list. Sonny is my least favourite, seems a bit nicknamey. I haven’t heard Joel for a while, I do like it though. I knew quite a few growing up in the 80’s, mostly pronounced Joe-Elle, 2 syllables. I prefer it pronounced as 1 syllable though.

MissBPotter · 10/08/2021 14:51

Sonny is terrible, please not sunny! Isaac is the best IMO but Joel is also far preferable to sonny.

blitzen · 10/08/2021 15:24

I like Sonny!
Not keen on Joel as I knew one and everyone called him Joe. Joe is nice!

crikey456 · 10/08/2021 15:48

Isaac

HonorHiding · 10/08/2021 15:51

Joel for me. Can’t get my head around Sonny for a future adult at all.

Kanaloa · 10/08/2021 16:00

I like Isaac best, then Joel, then Sonny. Really like Isaac, it’s one of my favourite names. I love that it’s simple and strong and not too popular or too out there.

ooowhataday · 10/08/2021 16:46

In no way helpful whatsoever but I like all of them!

I’ll let my son, his father and his grandfather know they don’t actually have a name then HmmGrin

I love Joel and I have an Isaac.

I used to have a horse called sonny. He was ace

Do you like nicknames/shortenings? Difficult with joel (unless jo?) and sonny. My Isaac is Ike which I love

RainingZen · 10/08/2021 20:10

Joel.

FayeFayeFayeFayeFaye · 10/08/2021 20:13

Joel because it’s not common, although I do know one!

Isaac is overused.

Sonny doesn’t feel like an actual name.

Lamont77 · 10/08/2021 20:18

Haven't heard of the name Joel in ages 😊 Joel is lovely and I like Sonny too.

Also, I have a nicknamey name and I love it (just in case that's something you're worried about if you go for Sonny).

SuperSketchy · 10/08/2021 20:21

Isaac is my favourite, followed by Sonny. I am not keen on Joel. It has a flubbery sound to me.

NannyR · 10/08/2021 20:27

Isaac, then Joel. Not keen on sonny at all. I've always loved Isaac as it has a lovely meaning in the bible - "he will laugh".

Crossstitchismyhobby · 10/08/2021 20:33

My partners aunts dog is called sonny
I really wanted Isaac for one of mine-it was neck and neck in the delivery room on which name (out of two) suited him best
Joel is dreadful-it’s an 80’s name

ZsaZsa1 · 10/08/2021 20:33

Isaac, then Sonny.

Surprisedpikachu · 10/08/2021 20:36

Isaac.

Lozzak21 · 10/08/2021 20:41

@Crossstitchismyhobby ha, oh really. What name did you go for in the end?

I ended up with an arlo
We wanted Alfie but it was a bit overused
Plus his stepbrother was a jake and Alfie and jake where brothers (at the time) in eastenders
I couldn’t live with the jokes

Congratulations on your baby-you will choose the ‘right’ name in the end

Abouttimemum · 10/08/2021 21:00

There’s loads of isaac’s at the moment, they’re everywhere, so for that reason I’d vote Joel or Sonny.

Also stealing PP suggestion of Sully for the future child I probably won’t have lol.

Onlinedilema · 10/08/2021 21:15

I don't like any but I really dislike Sonny.
Isaac will get misspelt. Joel is a bit of a mouthful and you need to make sure it sounds right with your surname, as it can sound very clumpy.
