Expecting a little girl in November and I’m stuck between:

  • Amber
  • Alexis
  • Stephanie

Please let me know your thoughts :)

Amber. Less chance of it shortened. Personally can't see the point in choosing a name you love to end up with variations!!

Comedycook · 02/08/2021 21:35

I like them all...wouldn't go for Alexis as too close to Alexa in my opinion!

Amber is lovely

Stephanie is gorgeous and a underused

Comedycook · 02/08/2021 21:35

*so underused

DoodleBelle · 02/08/2021 21:37

Stephanie feels a bit dated. Nickname Steph is a bit wet.
Not keen on Alexis and think she might be open to Alexa (Amazon) type jokes.
Amber is pretty and less likely to be shortened which is nice.

EezyOozy · 02/08/2021 21:38

Amber. I wouldn't use a name similar to Alexa and Stephanie seems a bit dull.

Augustbaby21 · 02/08/2021 21:38

I really like Amber from your list

Noshowwithoutpunch · 02/08/2021 21:41

Love Amber. Popular in the 90s but I don't think it's stuck in that decade as it still sounds great today.
Alexis is very 80's imo. And stuck there.
Stephanie has also had it's day.

Noshowwithoutpunch · 02/08/2021 21:41

Amber also suits the autumn /winter seasons too imo.

Violetlavenders · 02/08/2021 21:51

Stephanie definitely!

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 02/08/2021 21:55

Stephanie is fab. Imagine how refreshing that’ll sound in the classroom.
I despise Amber. It makes me think of Amber leaf tobacco. Even without that though. I don’t like the actual sound.
I can’t stand the “is” sound on Alexis. It just makes it seem so harsh. Alexie or Alexia are much prettier and friendlier sounding.
I also love Alex/Alexandra.

30degreesandmeltinghere · 02/08/2021 22:05

The fanny sound would worry me regarding awful bullying opportunity..

RuthW · 02/08/2021 22:06

Amber is lovely

NuffSaidSam · 02/08/2021 22:19

I like all of them.

I wouldn't use Alexis because of the Alexa thing.

Stephanie is nice and due a comeback. I like Steph.

Amber is also lovely and underused.

IamnotwhouthinkIam · 02/08/2021 22:20

I have a real soft spot for Stephanie. It's a bit out of fashion now, but has a pretty sound and the nn's Stevie or Effie are quite cool.

My second choice would be Amber - don't love/don't hate.

Alexis is too unisex for me personally and I also think it has quite a harsh sound.

Enko · 02/08/2021 22:22

Stephanie and Alexis are my favourites Amber is not my style at all

ladygindiva · 02/08/2021 22:24

I love Amber, it's a lovely name. Paired with something classic as a middle name, like Victoria, Elizabeth or Mary.

BikeRunSki · 02/08/2021 22:25

Stephanie, nn Stevie

Chunkymenrock · 02/08/2021 22:25

Amber is gorgeous.

Squeakerfoot · 02/08/2021 22:38

I like all your names. They are pretty unusual for children at the moment, but are attractive.

I think Alexis is a lovely, strong-sounding name. It's got a different feel to Alexa and doesn't make me think automatically of it. Alix is another similar name.

Amber is also strong and pretty.

Stephanie feels a bit more dated to me and I'm more ambivalent about it. I maybe like it a little less because of being the feminine version of Stephen. Then again Stevie is an awesome nickname!

PricklesTheHedgehog · 02/08/2021 23:03

Amber - really nice

Marty13 · 03/08/2021 01:29

Alexis. Or Alexandra or Alix, all good names.

Notapheasantplucker · 03/08/2021 01:32

Amber! That was on my list too, it's lovely.

Elspethelf · 03/08/2021 01:36

Amber is my favorite from your list but it might be because I have the very similar sounding Ember on my list.

sarah13xx · 03/08/2021 04:51

Amber is lovely

garlictwist · 03/08/2021 05:15

I really like alexis (or Alexa - really don't see why the Amazon connection matters. It's been a name far longer than that!).

I also like amber. Stephanie feels a bit dated.
