Hi all,

I’ve posted regarding names a few weeks ago but we’re still very unsure on what to name our baby girl.

Opinions on these names and any other suggestions very very welcome!

Eliza - my favourite, but OH still not keen
Emilia
Millie - trying to avoid “ie/y” ending names
Darcie/Darcey - same as above and although friends and family like it too, it seems a very unpopular and disliked name online
Iris
Violet
Francesca
Isabella - both like but wanted something not as popular

🌸💗

I'm just going to comment on Isabella. You both like it so go for it! It's a beautiful name and really not as popular as it was. Don't dismiss a name on popularity grounds, that way regrets lie.

What about Belle? It’s my son’s best friend sister’s name and whenever he says it it has a beautiful ring to it.

Onlinedilema · 30/07/2021 06:02

Isabella is by far the nicest.

Anotherday21 · 31/07/2021 18:46

Eliza is lovely. Flowers Darcey just reminds me of that woman from 90DF. Blush

WeDidntMeanToGoToSea · 31/07/2021 21:55

Iris and Francesca are fabulous.
Emilia and isabella are nice but overdone.
The others I dislike - very faddy/of the moment.

clickychicky · 01/08/2021 08:31

I like Emilia and Isabella.

How about Emily?

I wouldn't worry about the popularity if you find yourself strongly drawn towards one particular name, your child should have the name you love irregardless of how many other people also love it.

I love Iris and Violet. The rest are ok a bit meh except Darcy which is very Essex and a bit grim.

CanICelebrate · 01/08/2021 14:46

I like Eliza, Iris and Francesca the most.
Violet is ok but not keen on the others.

17caterpillars1mouse · 01/08/2021 14:47

Francesca is by far the nicest, beautiful name

MumofSpud · 01/08/2021 14:57

Eliza - nice
Emilia - ok but I prefer it starting with an A
Millie - ok but round my way v v popular for girls and dogs!!
Darcie/Darcey - ok I would spell it with a y
Iris - was on my short list
Violet - DD's middle name
Francesca - only ok
Isabella - v v popular but I like Izzy as a NN

We nearly went with Violet as a first name but chose Esme instead

What about:
Isla
Iona
Vivienne
Etienne
Estee (love this but we had no French connections so thought it might be too 'out there' to use)
Thea

I do not understand the love for Emilia/Amelia. They look nice written down but the 'mealy' noise is truly awful. Eh-mealy-uh. Uh-mealy-uh. Mealy is such an ugly sounding word. Please don't!

YouJustFoldItIn · 01/08/2021 15:18

Eliza like it, don't love it.

Emilia nice but too similar to Amelia which is the Sharon or Tracey of the noughties - everywhere.

Millie Too twee and cutesy. And why use it on its own when you could choose Emilia which is more grown up and elegant, and use Millie as a NN?

Darcie/Darcey Mmmm. Sounds a bit like one of those Lacey, Macey, Courtaney, Britney, Tiffany names to me.

Iris Now we're talking. Utterly beautiful, classic, easy to spell and pronounce, no nonsense, no twee shortenings, just elegant and simple. Love it.

Violet Lovely but prefere Iris.

Francesca also lovely but still prefer Iris.

Isabella A beautiful name but there are just too many of them around.

I know an Amelia whose parents have called her Meelie her whole life. I agree - it's horrible.

I always think that with the meal bit. Plus its a medical condition.

Thanks so much to everyone for taking the time to reply to this thread ☺️.

Shows how peoples opinions on names vary so so much!

Think we’ve got a firm favourite, but I daren’t say in here as some comments can be ever so brutal 😂 xxx
