Hi I’m 5months pregnant with a girl & have a 2year old girl. When we found out we were expecting this time we decided on a girls name quite quickly as it was a name that was nearly used for our first that we both still loved ( it was my grandmothers name) .. But my brother has recently began seeing a girl who has a daughter with this name who is 9 but it is starting to put me off naming but I still just love the name and was fully decided on it would it be weird for us to use this name still. I’m so torn.

Of course you can use it.

Use it. You'll regret not using it, especially if your brother splits up with his new partner.

It suppose some could see it as slightly odd if you didn't have a good reason - but you do as it's already a family name! Plus there will be a decades age gap between the girls so I doubt they'd be playing together much and cause confusion. I'd use it.

Totally fine. Especially as it was your granny's name.

My brother has just started seeing a girl...
Does he have history of long or short relationships?
He might not even be with her when your little one is born!
Give it some time. Have a back up name in case you change your mind for any reason.
No offence to the 9 year old, but at the moment, she is not part of your family.
She might be in the future, she might not.
Nobody can predict this. And if she is, she might like the thought of her cousin sharing her name.
