What do you think of Kit? I think it's pretty damn handsome (Harrington vibes!) but some have said it sounds wet! Help x

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
Terrazzo · 18/07/2021 19:22

I can see it suiting either! Or maybe someone who is both? 😄 I really like it though.

Aquamarine1029 · 18/07/2021 19:23

Wet as hell, sorry.

ofwarren · 18/07/2021 19:28

I like it but would use it as a nickname for Christopher.

EatingAllThePies · 18/07/2021 19:31

I have a kit in my family, the child is still young so no vibes and I don't think it's a wet name but I must admit I think of it more as a nickname than a name. If you like it then don't worry about what others think.

SeigneurLapindeGrantham · 18/07/2021 19:31

I love it.

Poppitt58 · 18/07/2021 19:33

I really like it.

What makes it wet?

PattyPan · 18/07/2021 19:35

I like it but not as a given name, only as a nickname.

PattyPan · 18/07/2021 19:37

I’m guessing the wet association is due to it being a name for some baby animals? I think baby ferrets are kits, pretty sure there are more as well

daisypond · 18/07/2021 19:39

Short for Christopher, etc, fine - not as a name in itself.

Echobelly · 18/07/2021 19:41

I like the name a lot, but I'd go for giving the name 'Christopher' officially and calling him Kit. I just think one should always name with the full version, even if you're calling by a diminutive on a daily basis (which is the case with our DS)

squirrelnutkins1 · 18/07/2021 19:43

I like it 👍🏻

Cookiebox · 18/07/2021 19:46

This is the Tim of the 2020s. It's bloody awful, twee and wet

KirstenBlest · 18/07/2021 19:48

Christopher is nice but Kit isn't.

Elys3 · 18/07/2021 19:48

No, it makes me think of PE kit.

Cazzovuoi · 18/07/2021 19:51

I love it but as others have said name him Christopher so he has the choice of using Kit in his professional life.

IamnotwhouthinkIam · 18/07/2021 20:04

Gorgeous - as a nn. But to me it sounds insubstantial as a given name, so I wouldn't use it unless I wouldn't mind Christopher (or even Christian if preferred) on the BC - even if I called him/introduced him as Kit from Day 1.

Rugbycomet · 18/07/2021 20:10

I like it…

BingBongToTheMoon · 18/07/2021 20:14

With the amount of threads on here regarding Kit…..it’s common as muck.
Nothing wrong with it. Definitely short for Christopher though.

Dinosaursdontgrowontrees · 18/07/2021 20:25

I know 5 under 13 months. It’s very popular where I live. I do like it though.

Darkchocolateandcoffee · 18/07/2021 20:27

So drippy

CorianderBee · 18/07/2021 20:29

Love it

WinoAnon · 18/07/2021 20:30

Well I thought of Eartha Kitt for years (not the singer) until my friend named he boy and that's changed and I quite like it now.

Terrazzo · 18/07/2021 20:31

That’s what it is!!! It’s the same vibe as Tim.

NewlyGranny · 18/07/2021 20:37

I always think of Christopher (Kit) Marlow, so I love it. Might have chosen it yonks ago myself for DS but for single syllable surname.

coodawoodashooda · 18/07/2021 20:40

Omg. Am i the only person who thought of Knight rider's car?
