Roisin, Aisling or Maria?

Róisín Maria
Aisling Maria
or Maria Róisín?

Big sister is Aoife.

I love all the names, but (a) not sure about having two A names, and (b) not sure about names which also have an 'ee' sound like Aoife, do they sound too rhymy?

Róisín Maria is beautiful

christdoinghisunspecifiedhobby · 14/07/2021 10:24

I like Róisín Maria. I don't think the two ee sounds are that similar as one's at the start of the name and one's at the end.

Enko · 14/07/2021 10:24

I have 2 dds ending in Eee ahh sounds and in retrospect we would not have done this. So I would avoid the ee sound yes.

Aisling Maria.

I think Aoife and Aisling is lovely!

IamnotwhouthinkIam · 14/07/2021 10:41

Of the 3, Róisín Maria works best with her sisters name imo. I do love very classic Maria but since her sister has an Irish name, it might be nice to "match" (without going so far as two "a" names). The "ee" sound is an different parts of Róisín and Aoife so I don't think it's too matchy personally.

I don't think the endings of Maria and Aoife are too similar. I think they all work well with Aoife. What way do you pronounce Roisin? I have an Oisín and pronounce it as Awh-sheen rather than Oh-sheen but only because that's the way everyone pronounces it where i live and it would get very confusing.

Personally my favourite is Maria, classic and travels well

OrangeAndYellowAndBlue · 14/07/2021 10:57

We pronounce it ROE-sheen, with the emphasis on the first syllable. Thanks for all the comments so far.

Roisín Maria. Goes very nicely with Aoife.

BeetyAxe · 14/07/2021 11:49

I like Aisling with Aoife.

OrangeAndYellowAndBlue · 14/07/2021 13:30

Thanks everyone. We weren't sure if we'd go with another Irish name, because we don't want it to seem like we were trying to make their names too matchy, or sound too similar. But they are just great names!

I like Roisin and Maria, not a fan of Aisling.

DramaAlpaca · 14/07/2021 23:53

Róisín, definitely. Just lovely and perfect with Aoife.

Aisling is very 90s I think, and Maria too religious, though it's a pretty name.

SionnachRua · 14/07/2021 23:57

Róisín Maria is really beautiful.

Aisling is ok but just that - ok. Maria is lovely but I wouldn't be keen on having two -ah ending sounds on the names if I could help it.

I have an Aoife and my next one was an A name. Good luck with your decision 😀
