I love it, and iirc it went down a treat on the last thread it featured on here. Seems it's underused but a crowd-pleaser.

Gunpowder · 12/07/2021 14:35

Love it. Know a toddler who is nicknamed Stelly. It’s gorgeous.

Createdjustforthis · 12/07/2021 14:37

Love it!

MrsOrMiss · 12/07/2021 14:40

Not a fan of the name Stellan, love Kellan. But, if you love the name, who cares what everyone else thinks!

Velvetbee · 12/07/2021 14:42

Love it.

BiBabbles · 12/07/2021 14:45

I think it's lovely, it was on my short list.

MagnusMama · 12/07/2021 14:45

I love it.... but as I have a Magnus and an Astrid already, I may be biased towards Scandinavian names Grin

MaMelon · 12/07/2021 14:46

It’s ok - nothing special.

TempsPerdu · 12/07/2021 14:50

Very nice. I’m a big fan of Nordic names (I have a Greta).

Yamaya · 12/07/2021 14:52

I like it, considered it for my son.

UndeadSlut · 12/07/2021 14:54

Yep it's lovely!

TiddyAndFletch · 12/07/2021 14:55

Too much like the girls' name Stella which I'm not a fan of.

Cindie943811A · 12/07/2021 16:12

I think it’s a great strong name

IamnotwhouthinkIam · 12/07/2021 17:33

Lovely - one of my fave Scandi names. Only issue might be that not everyone in the UK has heard of it - so you might get the occasional person thinking it's Stella (like the girls name) if that matters.

DerisorySnort · 12/07/2021 18:21

Love it!

elQuintoConyo · 12/07/2021 18:22

Awesome!

MooseBreath · 12/07/2021 21:58

I really like it and would've used it if it didn't sound so awful with my surname!

StevieNix · 12/07/2021 22:00

Love it, was on our list for DS but I chickened out of using it in the end (we don’t have any scandi connections)

StellanKellan · 12/07/2021 22:07

OK, I'm Swedish and this is the equivalent of naming your baby Derek. Or Gary. Only middle-aged men are called Stellan, so it'll be really jarring to anyone who is actually from Scandinavia. Everyone will think you named the baby after Stellan Skarsgård.

If you like Scandinavian names, why not go full viking - Ragnar, Ingvar, Ivar, Alvar.... just not Stellan!

toastofthetown · 12/07/2021 22:45

Love Stellan. I think it could get really quite popular over here.

MagnusMama · 13/07/2021 08:54

Ah @StellanKellan but most of the time it would not matter. For example, Kevin has been a top 10 name in France for the past 10-15 years...Kevin!
I appreciate my children have 'old people's names' elsewhere, they're less used in the UK, but still known and pronounceable.

Well, I thought Magnus was known and pronounceable, but he's had lots of blank stares, and was often called Magnet by small children when he was younger Grin
