Hazel is fabulous. Violet reminds me of violent, so a definite no for me.

Both lovely choices. The only thing that might go against Hazel is people tend to drop their H’s where I live, A-Zel doesn’t sound as nice.

I think Hazel is quite dated and not in a trendy old fashioned name sort of way. I think im also put off it because the only ones I know are exceptionally dull!

I was going to be called Hazel but my mum was worried I would be called Hazel nut :-D I prefer Violet personally, with Hazel as middle name.

Oh I love them both so much. I think Violet is probably less common now so would go with that.
