Names for twins!

Hi!

I’m expecting a pair of twins due next month and I already have a 2 year old boy named Felix. I know that I am having a boy and a girl and my thoughts are on either Beatrix or Beatrice for the girl, with Bea for short and Theodore for the boy with Theo for short! What are your opinions? And I would love any suggestions which fit with Felix and go with the old-fashioned, slightly uncommon vibe I enjoy. Thanks!

Love Theodore and Beatrice, I’d go with that spelling as Beatrix and Felix have too similar endings.

Theodore and Beatrice are great. Beatrix is a bit matchy with Felix I think. I also like

Jude and Olive
Stanley and Mabel
Arthur and Constance
Maximilian and Iris
Wilbur and Ivy

MissMissTorrance · 09/07/2021 17:17

I'd go with Beatrice.
Theodore is a good choice.

Is a pair of twins quads? Sorry not meaning to be a dick just made me smile.

Agree that the ix ending would be too similar to Felix

Bea makes me want to say Thee rather than Theo, but that might just be me, I do like both names but love pp of Arthur and Constance.

I love Beatrice and Theodore but Theodore has got to be heading towards top 10 surely? I don't think it has the uncommon feel you're looking for.
I think names that fit with Felix would be:
Caspar
Oscar (again not very uncommon but not as common as Theo)
Rufus
Rupert
Hugo
Jasper
Lucian
Gabriel
Rafael

Beatrice seems perfect to me but also:
Constance
Ada
Lydia
Miranda
Tabitha

Theo goes well with felix but I think Beatrix/Beatrice is an odd one out. It’s much more “formal” or even upper middle class than the other two IMO (not saying that’s bad or good but just that it’s in a different kind of category/style of name). I also think that if you end up calling her Bea then it doesn’t go that well because it’s just one syllable whereas the others are type.

Girls names that go well with Theo and felix:

Ivy
Lara
Mia
Florence
Freya
Clara
Ella

I think Otis, Beatrix, and Felix sounds better. And this is coming from a mother of a Theodor (who is 19 Smile).
Or...
Seb(astian), Beatrix, and Felix
Otto, Beatrix, and Felix

If you want to get X-ey about it: Rex, Beatrix, and Felix

Thank you for all your comments! I really like Sebastian and Otto TheVanguardSix! Hugo and Rupert are also great Chilldonaldchill! And thank you for all the nice comments about name choices! Think I may go with Beatrice for girl, but still undecided on Theodore for boy!

Beatrice is lovely.

Boy suggestions:

Jasper
Lawrence
Alexander
Roderick
Milo

Congratulations.
I love both Beatrice (nn Bea) and Theo. I agree Beatrix isn't right with Felix.
If popularity bothers you then I'm not sure Theo is the name for you, it seems to be the number one name where I am in the South East. I also don't think it's quite right with Bea...I find myself saying Bea and Thee (maybe that's just me!)
Similar vibe to Felix:
Jasper
Finn
Otis
Oscar
Reuben

With Beatrice/Bea:
Alexander
Samuel
Thomas
William

Scottishgirl85 · 09/07/2021 20:15

Just a word of warning if you're looking for unusual. Theo is ridiculously common, I know about 15 under 6!

Scottishgirl85 · 09/07/2021 20:21

Our friend has a Felix, with little brother Eli (Elijah).
Elijah and Beatrice have a lovely ring to them.
Felix, Eli and Bea is adorable!

shellstarbarley · 09/07/2021 20:33

I love Mabel for a girl and Gabriel for a boy.

Mabel and Gabriel area bit similar sound though so maybe a bit twee.

So I would use Mabel and Arthur or Gabriel and Eleanor. I like Theo but is very popular around here. Beatrice is lovely so maybe Beatrice and Gabriel.

Thank you so much for all the helpful comments! We think we are going to go for, Beatrice and Hugo, as DH is a massive fan of the sound of Hugo!

Hugo is lovely!

Thaddeus for a boy? Similar to Theodore but not as popular

Chachachawoo · 10/07/2021 19:33

Way prefer Hugo to Theo
Love Beatrix but since you have a Felix I would call her Beatrice which is lovely too.
Congratulations

Chilldonaldchill · 10/07/2021 20:30

Great choice Smile

Ilikecheeseontoast · 10/07/2021 20:35

The names are lovely on their own but make me want to say Theo and Beo When they’re together (sorry!)
Hugo and Beatrice is lovely!
