Pronunciation pretty obvious

I can't say I'm keen on the name, but Mina looks better.

StevieNix · 02/07/2021 19:14

Mina

Stumped. Used to know a lovely woman called Meena. I think Mina is better spelling.
Is this a Hindu name or other culture?

PeonyTime · 02/07/2021 19:20

IMO:
Meena if you have links to Hinduism and/or the Indian subcontinent.
Mina for any other background.

Mina

I teach a lovely Mina, so Mina for me.

Mina - so classic. Makes me think of the character in Stoker's Dracula (so an elegant, feminine Victorian sort of image). Meena is probably more common/useable though if you have Indian heritage.

Meena = my very good Indian friend.

Mina = I think of Bram Stoker of course and I love the name.

So for me both are very positive associations but also very different ones.
