Winter as a first name for a girl. What are your thoughts?

Also, do you think as the season spelling 'Winter' or with a y 'Wynter'?

A bit gloomy. No nice

Caselgarcia · 02/07/2021 14:22

Not Nice!

FelicityPike · 02/07/2021 14:23

I can’t stand it, especially not when spelled with a ‘Y’

shallIswim · 02/07/2021 14:24

Bit Game of Thrones. I haven't watched it but even I know 'Winter is coming'

Blossomtoes · 02/07/2021 14:26

Why would you want to saddle her with the name of the most miserable season of the year? Sorry but it’s awful.

romdowa · 02/07/2021 14:27

Please no! I know someone who named their summer born baby winter and its just awful! Far nicer names then the gloomiest time of the year

Walkingthedog46 · 02/07/2021 14:28

Winter is quite a common surname too. She could marry one!!!

ElderMillennial · 02/07/2021 14:29

Not sure and I'd think of it more if a boy name

I like Summer for a girl

Christmasbird · 02/07/2021 14:29

Winter us a beautiful name, I love it.
Not with a Y though, thats just not nice.

octoberfarm · 02/07/2021 14:31

I love it, but prefer it a thousand times over with an I rather than a Y. It doesn't feel gloomy to me at all, just pretty!

toastofthetown · 02/07/2021 14:34

I really love Winter. It doesn’t seem gloomy to me. Not a fan of the Wynter spelling.

CoffeeBeansGalore · 02/07/2021 14:34

I like Summer, Autumn and Winter as names, but for me the child would have to be born in the appropriate season.

hawkehurstgang · 02/07/2021 14:40

I love it, but not with a 'y'. I think the 'y' cheapens it.

expectinglittlebear · 02/07/2021 14:45

Thank you for all your opinions! Me personally Winter is my favourite season, I am a winter baby myself being born in November and my little one will be due in January, so a winter month.

No, not from Game of Thrones or anything of the like.

Yes I am thinking with an 'i' rather than 'y'!

I think of it as a boy’s name. Definitely Winter.

Sexlife · 02/07/2021 14:47

I love winter
IdblowJonSnow · 02/07/2021 14:52

I really like it. With the y though it's awful.
I'd only use it for a baby born in that season, as yours will be.

FrannyHaddock · 02/07/2021 14:57

It’s better than Summer.

ZingDramaQueenOfSheeba · 02/07/2021 15:18

no
Wynter is awful

Seriouslymole · 02/07/2021 15:20

I once knew a child called "Problem" (different language, different culture but still made me feel sad for the child) - Winter makes me feel like that.

Zarene · 02/07/2021 15:26

I like it !

I wish I'd used it as MN for my December born DD.

It would be odd for a summer baby though, and Wynter is silly.

Kanaloa · 02/07/2021 15:30

Yeah, winter is coming is what I’d think. Also I’m just not a fan of the sound.

Crimblecrumble1990 · 02/07/2021 15:31

I love Winter! The name and the season. Makes me think of beautiful sunny but cold frosty mornings.

Spelt like the season though, not with a Y.

Soubriquet · 02/07/2021 15:33

I like it. But with an I not a Y

otterbaby · 02/07/2021 15:36

Winter is beautiful. Definitely no Y!
