Boys name for a man

My lovely neighbour is about to change their name but can’t decide what they like. They are 50 and transitioning to male from female. I said to perhaps think of names popular when they were born.

They did want to use Alex but a close relative has apparently just used it. What other names do people like from this era 1970s

Are they transitioning to female or male? your title suggests one and your post the other. for a male, Nicholas, Sean or Peter. For a female, Julie or Rachel. Names weren't exciting at our school.

Vikingintraining · 01/07/2021 13:51

For 1970s names, how about Andrew, Christopher, Nicholas, Richard, Jonathan. all very classic and popular at the time but perhaps not 'interesting'.
Other suggestions for choosing the name - if their parents are still alive, how about asking what they would have been named if born a boy, or otherwise, how about naming after a favourite relation or friend, or otherwise a name connected to a favourite place?

Vikingintraining · 01/07/2021 13:52

@PineappleWilson the post says to male from female, I had to read it again to make sure.

Not names I necessarily like but ones I'd say were relatively common among that age group that might not be so well used today.....

I had to reread it because I thought the same, but the post does actually say to male from female!

How about Adam, Nicholas, James, Jonathan, Stephen?

Thanks everyone. Yes female to male.

Apparently their parents were going to choose a name they really hated. But good suggestions I will give them
